Re: McCallum to Solihull Moors
Surprised he has moved up to a Midlands National League club. Sure if we had made a move for him that he would have come to us. Could it be that we preferred Harrold to McCallum ? I cannot think myself that in a choice between the two, that Harrold will score more than McCallum would have done for us in Division 2 next season.

They play to his strengths, hoof it long and play the percentages. If they need to let somebody go it would be nice to nick Jamey Osborne

Re: McCallum to Solihull Moors
Possibly a decision from us not to go in seriously for him because he doesn’t suit our style, or Justin’s expectations of a hard working player, or that we couldn’t guarantee him being first choice. Can’t see Solihull outbidding us.
I would have liked him but it’s not the end of the world. Unless we don’t sign another striker anyways.

My guess is we simply didn't go in for him. A shame really because I think he would have done well for us.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 5:30 pm Surprised he has moved up to a Midlands National League club. Re: McCallum to Solihull Moors
Bizarre. If he tears up the National League again next season, and Harrold is as effective as a wet fart, then I shall be turning up to matches with an "Edinburgh Out" banner

Re: McCallum to Solihull Moors
You’re not comparing like for like.
Harold is an impact sub, useful when we’re chasing a game, or seeing s game out, but that’s it. I don’t expect him to start next season.
I still expect striker 3, and possibly striker 4, to come in ahead of him.
McCallum doesn’t suit us.

Re: McCallum to Solihull Moors
Ollie Palmer is a ''Marmite' type of player to most Os fans.
Anyway, he is not a free agent, contracted to Crawley Town till the end of season 2019-20.

Re: McCallum to Solihull Moors
We need another main man, someone who can interchange with Macca and Josh for a starting spot. That's not Ollie Palmer. (Nor is it Matt Harold).

Re: McCallum to Solihull Moors
Shame as he seems like a good all-round striker now. Well, at least in the air.
But like others have said he isn't suited to us and I don't think he'd be happy warming the bench either. Good signing for Solihull Moors, they lost Yussuf to Blackpool (weird signing for them) but have signed someone better, fair play.

Re: McCallum to Solihull Moors
I'm gutted to be honest. McCallum would have been a good choice for us. Surprised we didn't make a move.
Strangely, I saw some fella post on Twitter a couple of weeks ago, that he was going to Moors, but thought it was some silly rumour.
Hope we do better than last summer in the transfer stakes, but I reckon we let one get away here

Re: McCallum to Solihull Moors
Personally not sorry we didn't go in for him.
Injury-prone; serious disciplinary problems in the past; and stands around like a totem pole most of the time.
Not really a team-player, all told.
Granted he's had a purple patch this season, but no guarantee he'll repeat it.

In between scoring goals that is !!
Scored 2 before half time against us recently as I recall.
Different class and times I know, but according to his critics, Jimmy Greaves used to stand around a lot of the time, in between scoring lots of goals that is !!

Re: McCallum to Solihull Moors
WE signed on ''King Harrold'' for another season instead. I like Matts ''habit'' of coming on for the last 30 minutes or so and ''Putting'' in a shift !!
I also like Paul McCallum's ''habit'' of regularly ''Putting'' the ball into the back of the net !!

Re: McCallum to Solihull Moors
Personally I don’t he’s mobile enough, has a poor injury record and he never pulled up enough trees when he was here before. I previously said he’d only scored 1 goal outside of a header which is not how we play. Confirmed by another order.
So all in all I think if Edinburgh ever considered him he would have been discounted pretty quickly based on my facts.
He suits their sh*t way of playing immensely ,
