Interesting listening to David Spiegelhalter on the BBC's Daily Politics today. He said there are a "number of problems" with the graph that showed the 4000 figure and it was not helpful to show it.
On nick ferrari today they had an expert on who said this is whats happened. The government looked at 486 hospitals as a sample and found only 29 of them had covid patients so they decided to ignore the ones with no patients and then extrapolate the data of the 29 which is what has put us in lockdown. They also went on to say that at its peak 8,452 people died globally on the highest day. Yet the government wants us to believe we will have 4k dead each day. Its nonsense.

Didnt they say a million died on the 1st wave of Spanish flu .
Then between 17-100 million ( depending what source you read )
died in further waves .
It is simply that 4,000 cases per day was worst case scenario .
From different projected models .
A good friend of mine works as a toilet attendant ( someone has to do it ) The toilets are owned by the Corperation of London but he's paid through an agency , during the first lockdown his toilets were closed and he was given full pay , this time the Corperation have decided they will not pay wages to agency staff how does he get on for money ? He and his wife live in a private rented flat so can't get council housing benefits , his wife is on full pay with Arsenal FC , he's worried sick he won't be able to pay his rent ( £250 per week ) ☹☹
Nice Uncle Rishi has extended the furlough scheme until end of March...that tells you rather more about a date for return to 'normality' than Johnson bluster about the 2nd of December...

25k cases and 492 new deaths reported today. What should it have been according to the data model?
Which one? I expect deaths to peak at around 900 a day in a couple of weeks.

The one they used for the predictions in the slides last Saturday.
