Looking at the graphs the government has released the issue is all midlands and above related, the rest of the country looks fine right now. Can’t see why the whole country is being locked down when the facts show that the infections and r number is dropping in all the areas in tier 3. Seems like a crazy move to me when the controls put in place are working.

No plan or strategy to protect and help the old and vulnerable. We are doomed to have lockdown after lockdown with this inept government.

If they could just put measures in place to shield these people and properly support them, many infections and hospitalisations could be prevented and the economy would not be so damaged.

Sorry I don't read external links or material from you. Believe the old are driving hospitalisations though and as these are the most likely to die, they should be protected. Don't know why you are in denial about this.

something other than your view that young healthy people
Dont get seriously ill with a threat to life .

Let's hope Professor Calum Semple is equally concerned about the estimated 1M women who have missed vital breast screening due to covid-19.

It's not an either or situation. I'm sure he cares about both.

If the Tories had not screwed the NHS for the last TEN years, imposed the 1st lockdown way too late and Fuked up the test and trace system by giving it to private companies with no public health credentials EVERYONE would currently be getting better medical care.

In his full interview he explained exactly why it mattered that this message came across

Young people getting ill means numbers go way above old vulnerable
people Being in intensive care , it explained that it would then
affect even more treatment for sick people to
Be treated for there conditions for an even longer period .

Meaning old vulnerable people die quicker
Freeing up bed space .

Younger people can spend much longer recovering meaning fewer i c u beds.

Which means more wards get taken over for covid .

Correct. They didn't cover themselves in Glory with the Cummings affair either where exactly the wrong message was given to the public. Lately, their failure to implement the SAGE advice, on September 21st, to immediately implement a short circuit-breaker lockdown has now resulted in the huge surge in infections and the complete 4 week Lockdown we're now facing. Inept, corrupt, just doesn't cut it when describing Boris & chums.

So the 4000 deaths a day doomsday model, is based on deaths within 60 days of infection, instead of the usual 28.

Is that not because most people who die from Covid are likely to hang on for 28 days? And, if so, capping it at 28 days would likely give a false indicator?

Probably. But then they should probably either calibrate this data to be comparable or reissue the historical data so that comparisons can more easily be made.

They changed it to
Tested positive with covid in 28 days .
To define specifically Covid .

Instead of including Covid related .

In other words complications such as sepsis , heart problems, strokes etc
All suffered while no longer being covid positive , but still in comas etc.
