Alastair Campbell expelled from Labour Party

Post by Sid Bishop »

Good riddance, cant stand the man.
I just wonder, Is Tony Blair still a member of the Labour Party ? If so, then how come he has not also been expelled ?
Although I dont like Corbyns politics, must say Jeremy seems quite a decent and polite man.

Tony Blair's former spin doctor says he has been expelled from the Labour Party after voting for the Liberal Democrats in the European elections.

Not convinced you can be expelled for not voting Labour. But you can be if you actively campaign for other parties plus he's a complete and utter beloved aunt who should have been expelled years ago anyway.

Judging by the 2017 news article below, John Prescott thought there was a good case for Blair to be expelled from the labour Party

John Prescott questions why Tony Blair has not been expelled from Labour
Written by: Josh May Posted On: 30th April 2017
John Prescott has hinted Tony Blair should be expelled from the Labour party as he launched a withering attack on the former prime minister’s interventions in the election campaign. Lord Prescott, who served as Mr Blair’s deputy prime minister for a decade, said he was “saddened” by the recent comments seemingly calling on voters to consider candidates’ view of Brexit above their party banner. While claiming he was not arguing for tactical voting, Mr Blair said what he was advocating “may mean” backing the Liberal Democrats or even pro-EU Conservatives.

Not much time for this uber-Blairite who has the blood of countless Iraqis all over his grubby hands but suspending him now, for this, is bad PR. Seems petty.

Conservative Lord Heseltine has also had a similar thing happen to him, he has been suspended after saying he would vote Liberal Democrat in last week’s European elections.

Timing not great on this one from Labour - although Campbell knew exactly what he was doing when revealing this information.

When would be a good time to suspend someone who flagrantly breaks party rules?

Not on the same day that the E.H.R.C launches its investigation into antisemitism claims thus giving well known Corbyn fans such as Hodge / Berger an excuse to make a comparison on how Campbell's expulsion happens much quicker than antisemitism claims are investigated.

Granted, the comparison being made is fatuous but it plays well with JC's opponents and the hard of thinking types who can't see why the two things are different. Might've just made sense to have held fire for a few more days...….

I've always been opposed to Haseline for as long as I can remember . He's a far bigger beloved aunt than Alastair Campbell will ever be.

Agree with Joe’s Proposition. This seems petty and is timed badly.

It's a shame they're not as quick at expelling anti-semites than they are for someone voting for another party.

If he wasn't such a massive fanny, he would have resigned first. I'm sure we'll hear lots more from him on the subject in the coming days.

Campbell dared to criticize the führer, if Corbyn had his way he'd be murdered.

Predictable response from a blindfolded Labour supporter. Promote the pogroms to purge anyone not following a narrowing party line. This coming from a ‘leader’ who voted against his own party hundreds of times. As Jess Phillips has said, Campbell was expelled quicker than a local member who threatened to kill her and another who is a holocaust denier.

Sad times.

Don't be a willy. He's not being expelled for not following the party line. He's being expelled for campaigning for another political party. If you're going to have a go at me at least do it without the lies.

Hopefully Jess Phillips will follow him out the door. A careerists chancer if ever I saw one.

I suppose its down to the interpretation of the party rules. I think the same result would happen in other political parties for high profile members who spoke on media and admitted they had voted for another party in an important election.
Has Corbyn ever been on tv or radio stating that he has voted for another political Party as Campbell did when he revealed he had voted Lib Dem during the BBC's election night broadcast on Sunday ? I dont think so, he knows the rules better than Alastair Campbell.

Supposed there's a first for everything.

He did it knowing full well that A) he'd likely be expelled and B) create yet another sh*t-storm in Corbyn's face. People like Campbell don't do anything without knowing the end result first. I'm more disappointed that Labour have knee-jerk reacted to it.
