Personally, i would like to see the big unions stop funding Labour. Len Mcluskey mentioned something about this a few weeks ago.
Labour is moving right at alarming speed, and certainly isnt a party for socialists now

Re: Labour Watch
Moving right does not mean it becomes a right wing party, just not far left. Maybe to an area where the majority of people it claims to represent reside themselves. It needs to be the party for the many, not the few. I’m sure I’ve seen that tag line before.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 10:00 am Personally, i would like to see the big unions stop funding Labour. Re: Labour Watch
Corbs comments on the problem being overstated, whether you agree with it or not has no relevance to the EHRC judgement.
It's just Corbs comidifying victimhood again, something he can't help himself but do every time he's criticised for genuine reasons (and there's been plenty of unwarranted attacks)
His messaging is and has always been consistently awful.

Despite numerous requests they still take it.
I don't vote Labour never have though if Starmer does a half decent job I'd give it consideration. As i won't vote for Bozo, voted to get Brexit done to bring an end to it. He was a poo poo mayor and is the same prime minister.

You are right though that Labour is moving right - at last they realise that socialism is for trogladytes.
Time for I-Keir to lead us to government.

Re: Labour Watch
Worth pointing out that the report highlighted the interference from the leaders office in a complaint made by a Jewish member over his - imo very hard to defend- comments about that anti-Semitic mural. That in itself is problematic as it was in direct contravention of party rules.
I think it's bollox to suggest that this problem didn't preexist Corbyns leadership. Livingstone has been making offensive comments for years, Corbyn invited a notorious anti-Semite to Westminster whilst campaigning him to let into the country, the way the word Zionist is used by a fair chunk of membership and some MPs/councillors is pretty uncomfortable. Corbyn needed to show humility and accept yesterday as a moment that could allow Labour to move on. Instead his martyr complex demanded he make it about how he was stitched up. That was always going to look awful and further underlines why he should never have been party leader.

Re: Labour Watch
Some woman on TV just now said We’ve tried Corbynism and it has been rejected. Now is the time for Labour to decide if it wants to be a pure Socialist party or become a mainstream party with a chance to get elected.Disoriented wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 10:57 amMcCluskey is an absolute meathead. For me this has always been the issue. Corbyn, Momemtum, McClusky et al may well have strong beliefs about their vision for the country. Their right. Sadly for them their vision is not shared by enough people to get them elected.
They remain a party of protest whilst the Tories stay in power. Or they accept the realities of the world we live in and understand the people they claim to represent, move right, but not right wing. And stand a chance of winning an election.

Re: Labour Watch
Mainstream party you say.
Is that one which accepts a grossly unequal society and all the horrors that produces and worships the "free" market?
If so, what would differentiate them from any of the other parties?
Aren't voters allowed a choice.

Re: Labour Watch
How true is that, though? Both the main parties exist in a permanent state of division to some extent, only the Tories are generally more focused on their main objectives and priorities. I think it also depends where the divide exists.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 11:20 am Isn't it a truism that divided parties don't win elections?

I think that sorta proves it does though, right? As you say, the Tories hold their noses a little easier than Labour does.Dunners wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 11:29 amHow true is that, though? I also think its important as to how ideologically tied to your party you are for the non-main parties.
I'd suggest UKIP'ers, BNP etc would find it easier to put a vote in a Tory box than a Green or Lib Dem might in a Labour box. The right is better at sicking to its cause and coming together than the left is. They are much better at collective effort.

Genuine question, I’ve not looked at the news at all in weeks until Corbs hit the headlines yesterday.

Re: Labour Watch
No, in my opinion, a UKIP'er going into the 2019 GE is more likely to go 'no way do I want Corbyn!' and give his vote to the Tories, than a Green or Lib Dem is to a Labour leader. See also; Brexiteers.
