Re: Labour Watch
I think for two reasons
1) the left (from centre to hard left) are split on this. The centrists tend to take her stance as a 'its just common sense' approach, the progressives tend to think shes a scumbag. I personally think, unsurprisingly, she's being an absolute willy.
2) No one asks conservatives their opinion on this, firstly because they are more unanimous, but secondly it all just moves conversation from the more broad issues. Lefties are damned if they do, damned if they don't.
People invite lefties, or Labour politicians specifically, onto TV shows, ask them constantly about trans issues, BLM, white privilege and alike - get their answers and then say 'aaaah, why are you so obsessed with identity politics?!'. So you can't really win either way. That's probably a part of why that didn't get answered.

Re: Labour Watch
It must be a massive issue for the public if it's gaining this much news time and debate within the party
It's not like the Labour Party to self destruct over a fringe issue now is it?

Re: Labour Watch
Oh dear
Peter Mandelson’s Grandfather was Jewish but Peter himself doesn’t self identify as Jewish.
I’m prepared to accept that McCluskey made a stupid comment whilst in a RAGE. Unless of course any of the usual suspects are prepared to put me right on a few points that they tell me I am unsure of.

Re: Labour Watch
Following your logic and the facts are you able to agree that the person who made the ant-semitism comment was actually the Anti-Semite given that they were the one repeating the false trope that associates Jews with having lots of money.StockholmO wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 10:49 pmOh dear

If you are able to accept that a false accusation has been made it is then only a small step to accept that anti semitism was used as a political weapon within the Labour Party.

Mandelson is a f*cking Lord. Surely any reference to money or gold is to do with that, not any distant relatives of his?

Wasn't that investigation report due to be completed by July? Are they still searching for "evidence"?

Re: Labour Watch
Why? Mandelson doesn't claim to be Jewish and by definition of the Jewish faith he isn't.Disoriented wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 11:57 amPossibly, but it was a pretty stupid thing for McCluskey to say given the obvious connotations wouldn’t you agree.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 11:23 pm Mandelson is a f*cking Lord. Nothing stupid about criticising a greedy Labour politician who was in politics to enrich himself and fill his boots.
See post above re dodgy loan from another MP which surely questions his integrity and financial motivation.
Was there not another suggestion of impropriety involving the Hindujah family and probably many others too.

Re: Labour Watch
Talking of loans, McClusky got a nice £400 k loan from unite to help him buy a flat, but he did of course pay it back Plus a bit more. Not unusual with loans. Details of the loan payback kept from the rank and file of course. The house now enjoys a massive increase in value. Wonder if he still owns it. Champagne McClusky telling others to count their gold whilst having earned a salary far greater that the vast majority of Union members can only dream about, apart from other Union leaders of course.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 11:48 pmWhat about the hidden loan he was given by another Labour MP to buy a house on Notting Hill that he couldn't afford?Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 11:23 pm Mandelson is a f*cking Lord. Don’t begrudge them the big bucks but they should stop throwing about such comments.

Having a hidden loan from another MP means there is potential for the lender to unduly influence the loanee. It's not a good look for a govt minister to be secretly in hock to a businessman.
