If that game had been against Cardiff you would have heard O's supporters singing "were the West side, were the West side" followed by forty West side boys being chased by Cardiff fans right accross the front of Stanley Baker, Barry Foster, Jack Sewell and friends while they were filming.
Those were the days at Brissie road, a bit of football followed by a couple of laps round the terraces and up Leyton high road
.
For 10 points who was the ref in that bit of film?...i know him but cant remember his name...Google!!

Yes, in a roped off area. As soon as they shot the scene all the actors disappeared. Funny that. The opposition that day was Swindon Town.

Another clip i'm sure was over Leyton Marshes near the gasometer and roller skating rink near the Selbourne Rd entrance.

The actor on the right is Michael McStay who was a local boy who went to Leyton County High. He was also on the TV in "No Hiding Place" as a side kick of Superintendent Lockhart.
NB - he was a pee poor actor as it happened

Stanley Baker - vastly underrated actor IMO. Played baddies magnificently.

I was given the blu-ray last Christmas, think I’d previously mentioned in passing there was a scene at Brisbane Road filmed there.
Will have to give it another look, is a pretty decent movie. As said above Stanley Baker was always watchable, and George Sewell popped up in many a film and TV role (‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’ one I recall), generally small parts but always reliable.

I was there with my dad. I always thought the opposition were Bury and by then we were playing in red shirts, white shorts and black socks.

Definitely was against Swindon on 1st April 1967,we were wearing blue this season and changed to red the following season when we dropped the Leyton from our name.

yep good call definitely Swindon
Started working the programmes the next season, small white brochures that were supposed to fit in the pocket easier
At first we were going to be called Leyton Orient nil, but they just changed it to Orient
Good Memories
