Your fault, you entered Eurovision. Now you're part of the EU too.

Anyway, good to hear that people were out voting for their unelected officials.

Last year of austerity was 2003, from memory. Since then we have only had budget deficits.

The lib dems should have walked away when the Tories watered all things they agreed down. That would have given them a position of strength, rather than a scapegoat.
?

‘Austerity’ wasn’t even invented until what, 2011/2012?

I couldn't vote Labour because I still haven't forgiven them for the National Government of 1931.

I guess it's about culture rather than geography, and Australia believes itself to be culturally European - like Israel too.

Is that so. You are beginning to sound like you feel you are the font of all political knowledge.

You are seriously deluded if you think the Tories have done less harm to the country than the Lib Dems.

Tuition fees was a Tory policy, as was austerity.

They were the minority in the government.

Austerity was not a policy of the government of that time, it was forced onto them due to the acceptance of public debt on to the states books. I’m sure you remember the saving of the banking structure in this country, a banking structure that failed due to a lack of regulation if you like from the previous labour government. This coupled with the high debts left by the last labour government forced the collation government to implement asterity as a measure to reduce the deficit and keep control of debts whilst reassuring the markets that the government can pay its way and honour its obligations.

So to blame the tories for debt is a bit rich.

Governments love to spend money. Makes them popular. Austerity is something no party would willingly choose as a policy and it is stupid to think it is.

When the Tories came to power the countries finances were shot. They inherited a very difficult position. Of course they could have increased borrowing but they chose to cut their cloth accordingly. If people choose to believe they inherited a good position then fine, but we all know they didn't. We can all argue about how effectively they dealt with a sorry state of affairs but there is no question about the state of the country they took on. and that were not their fault.

Less spend and a smaller state is the tories main objective. It’s stupid to think it isn’t.

That’s how the American system works and they seem to like it. Less taxes to be taken, more of your own cash to spend, does that not appeal to you then?
