Is there something in the water, or our diet, or some genetic abnormality that means that some of us just decide to do what the hell we fancy doing because that's what suits us? We don't hear of the Germans all flocking to the beaches or rampaging out on the p*ss when they're being asked to show some consideration. Are we really that different from other peoples?

Maybe they're genetically more disposed to thinking about others and adapting their behaviors for the greater good.

Do you suspect that it might have something to do with how we are led?
I'd say this isn't true. Germany's anti lockdown protests have been far bigger than the ones here, there's been loads of reports of people not abiding by the rules on holiday islands (just like Brits.) France has skirted the issue of rule breaking by having much more lax post lockdown rules, which they are reining in due to the rate of infection.

Most people in most countries are responding the same way I reckon. Weary compliance with some selective and irregular rule breaking. I wouldn't believe anyone on here who says they've abided by the rules 100%.
I believe that fella Cumings when he categorically stated he broke no rules and the Great Leader let him borrow his back garden to announce it.
Absolutely Max. I hear the French and Spanish Governments frequently blame him for their increasing numbers. Lucky for Italy and Germany they don’t pay him any attention.

People will always try to pin in on the leadership. Politics rearing it’s head. But looking around the globe, the situation suggests It a global issue that countries locally are struggling to contain. Some better than others, but all struggling.
Us worse than most.

But at least Dom’s mates are getting richer off the back of it, so it’s not all bad news.

Well done the Welsh Minister today who had the balls to say their lockdown, affecting large numbers of people, is the result of a few who ignore the rules. Now that is a Covid fact in my opinion. Treat them like outcasts.

Johnson, send a search party out to find your balls, they are in there somewhere.
This is the man you voted for and defended.

Face facts - you picked the wrong team.

For the umpteenth time. As much as I dislike the man he was better than the alternative. And I was not alone in that view.

PS. Defend him, Really? I can’t stand him. But that don’t have to mean I think everything the current bunch have done is wrong. Nor do I believe the alternative would have done any better.

Can't imagine what all those left wingers, socialists and Marxists think about old corblimey and his useless election tactics, policies, personality, strange associations with bad people and the allowance of rascist and anti semitic language being used in the labour party.

Taken from the ONS figures (the %'s are my calculations)
Population of UK - 66.8 million
520,000 - the number of people to have contracted the virus or tested positive for it (in the early period of the pandemic some who were hospitalised were not tested) - 0.78% of the population
112,000 - hospitalised as a result of contracting the virus - 0.17% of the population
42,000 - number of people who have died within 28 days of contracting the virus - 0.063% of the population
16 million approx number now under "semi" or "total" lockdown restrictions - Sunday Times estimate 27/9/20.

I do try not to respond to your incessant utter bollox but sometimes it's just too hard. Do you honestly believe that Boris backing Cummings when he was patently lying through his teeth was the correct thing to do? Do you think that allowing Cummings to keep his job after breaking the rules and, in reality, letting him stick 2 fingers up to the UK populace was right? Do you not think this sent a powerful message of "do as I say not do as I do" to the UK populace who then, in part and not unexpectedly, thought "why the hell should we follow these rules when Cummings can get away with it"?

Backing Cummings was indeed a watershed moment. It showed the Government up for what it is. Morally corrupt, cowardly and inept. This was the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the Governments resolve and determination to beat Covid. Simply put, sacking Cummings would have been taken as a sign that the rules were critically important and had to be followed. Instead "let's look after our own, whatever" was the key message and a huge influencer on many peoples decision to flout the rules.

How other Countries are currently faring is completely irrelevant to the Cummings affair.

For once I agree with bonio.

Trouble is the government stance on cummings still has ramifications today and no doubt will continue in the future.
