Letting non Prem clubs off of business rates

Post by The Orient Hour »

Just posted a question on twitter, if you would like to vote.
Waiving business rates for football clubs who rely on spectator and commercial activity income could be the difference between dozens of clubs 8n various leagues up and down the country.
Personally I feel that if the govt felt it right to let the big supermarkets off of their rates bills this year (Tesco alone saving circa £700million) then surely they can help sports clubs (not just football) up and down the country to survive. The supermarket chains after all are one of the few to make many millions out of this disaster and they've been given a huge financial let off here.

How much would that save Orient? How much do they make through match day income minus season ticket sales

Adam, we are talking business rates of around 46p in the £ of the rateable value of the ground I believe.... A lot of money unless they have a special deal with LBWF. But we are talking of sports clubs countrywide here, from the EFL down to minor leagues who exist through bar takes and admission money etc
