Re: Orient squad test positive for Covid
Premier League testing is on some sort of graduated scale EFL testing is Positive or Negative.
We have told the EFL we can field a (youth) team which would give the EFL a problem if they try to give the game to Spurs by Forfeit. I think the issue will be is the ground safe and I suspect LBWF Public Health will have to report back to PHE if it's not we would have to concede the game I reckon.

a) Youth players would not have been registered in time to play tonight
b) there was no venue to play tonight as ground closed
c) Travis said Waltham Forest Public Health wouldn't allow game to go ahead
d) rules of competition clearly provide Spurs go through by default

Re: Orient squad test positive for Covid
Rule 5 covers it and its Orient who can't play the game on the due date, so its Orient who forfeit
The big issue here that people have not mentioned yet is why there is a significant difference between the EFL testing and that for the Premier League clubs. These cases were only identified because the PL protocol was followed. It begs the question of how effective the EFL tests are and how many players are playing while infected.

The youth team players are already registered to play in any EFL or FA competitions. Only new signings need to be registers by midday of a midweek game.

It is understood Aston Villa (v Bristol City), Fulham (v Sheffield Wednesday), Burnley (v Millwall), Newcastle (v Morecambe) and Manchester United (v Luton) were happy to follow EFL protocols and will not test their opposition. Brentford turned down West Brom's offer to have their squad tested.Ornchurch wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 12:53 pm This is an EFL competition and they dictate the rules, not Spurs or Chelsea. Why is premier league protocol not being followed here ?

Re: Orient squad test positive for Covid
It's not.
Just because others are happy to play untested teams or refuse tests, it doesn't excuse where LOFC finds itself.
The club agreed to the tests and a number of players are positive. End of story.

Re: Orient squad test positive for Covid
End of Story it isnt .
If it was the game would have been called off immediately.
EFL PROTOCOL WAS followed By LOFC .
Tests paid for by another club showed players test positive.
Other clubs are not doing so & following EFL protocol & are not testing ,
therefore leaving premier league players vulnerable as well as efl players .

Re: Orient squad test positive for Covid
It seems like the club are going to force the EFL to make a decision
that in theory can be challenged .

Re: Orient squad test positive for Covid
My thoughts entirely and quite right to, in my opinion the EFL haven't got the first idea how to run a village fete raffle let alone a professional football tournament. Any decision they make will be easily challenged. As for all this cr@p I'm reading about how we should do the decent thing and forfeit because tottenham paid for the tests. what a lot of old ***** and typical small club mentality tipping our peaks to our grandeurs in thanks....

Game off according to sky sports news, just announced as breaking news. Didn't say postponed or forfeited just called off. So will be interesting to see where it goes from here.

Possibly because this is not a Premier League game and their protocol is of no relevance to this competition

Rule 5 covers the situation.UpminsterO wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 2:50 pm If there had been inclement weather - rain - storm then the ground would be inspected and the match would be then on that possibly postponed -
Is the virus deemed by the rules a similar act of god ie beyond the normal
If so the game would be postponed too?
Clear and easy to follow

Re: Orient squad test positive for Covid
I know that but the question cannot be dismissed as easily as that. Or are we saying that the Orient squad are only partly positive?Top of the JES wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 12:59 pm Premier League testing is on some sort of graduated scale EFL testing is Positive or Negative.
Surely there has to be a consistency between all test completed by all EFL and PL clubs.
There has to be an answer as to why the Orient players were not picked up by the EFL test.
There now has to be a doubt around the EFL tests and whether it is safe for them to continue with league games.

It of course could be that the Orient players never had Covid-19 when previously tested.
No conspiracy theory needed. Unless tests were done at same time and got different results there is nothing to see here

Re: Orient squad test positive for Covid
Would imagine Nigel and the club are quite rightly trying to protect our interest which is £150,000. Let the EFL make a decision and we take it from there. As has been said other games between Premier and EFL clubs no tests taken, we as is Orient all over in friendship and fairness to our neighnours Spurs agree to test.
I know this is a dreamland idea but if we have to forfeit the game and lose out on tv money, it would be a fantastic gesture for Spurs to compensate us and agree to a pre season friendly game titled the "Justin Edinburgh Cup". The money up front is a life blood for little old Leyton Orient and the publicity for Spurs would be absoloutely enormous. When the pre season friendly is played all gate money could go to Justins foundation and the takings from beverages, food etc could be kept by the home club.
The home club will be Tottenham Hotspur and i am sure they will get their up front tv money they kindly paid to the Orient.
Everyone's a winner Orient, Justins foundation and Tottenham for their fantastic gesture in these times of selfishness and greed.
Far fetched maybe but why not?
