Crying out for a Centre Half..
With the transfer window closing soon and no news/rumours
coming out of the club re: the desperate need for a new
Centre half signing ..
Will the club hit the panic button at the 11th hour and we end
up with a Paul Hague or Alan White panic buy ??

Agree. We definitely need a centre back.

Reckon we might bring in another right back. Anything to push Judd further down the pecking order.

Re: Crying out for a Centre Half..
But yeah I’d agree we could do with one. It won’t happen though. Another one that also won’t happen is another cisse type player as a backup or to bring on to see games out. If cisse gets a bad injury we truely are f*cked

Re: Crying out for a Centre Half..
Both the goals came down the wing. The Plymouth goals came down the wing, as did every one of the many attacking opportunities they had. As poor as they were Oldham had plenty of opportunities to cross the ball but their delivery was dreadful. We are crying out for two fullbacks who actually want to put pressure on the ball and bust a gut to prevent crosses. Additionally when Cisse found himself in a position to provide defensive cover he was just as pathetic.

Re: Crying out for a Centre Half..
I don’t know if it’s the quality of the FBs or the system but we seem to invite crosses into the box or give opposition wide players too much room and time. Ling rarely puts in a tackle, just backs off leaving space, Brophy gets tighter but doesn’t pressure. But I noticed Thomas doing the same quite often which makes me wonder if it’s how fullbacks play these days or the system we play.CharlieO wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 11:56 pm Both the goals came down the wing. Being tough on Cisse. He does a lot of good stuff at the back. But I think defensively we remain very poor, always likely to concede, which we do all too easily, but are getting away with it because our strikers compensate, maybe we need a defensive coach.

Or, rather than approach an embittered, delusional ranty cab driver who hasn’t done any league coaching in 25 years - and ask him to shave and sort himself out - we could focus on competent coaches with recent experience.

Re: Crying out for a Centre Half..
I'm sure we would have replaced Marv if Covid hadn't been about.
I would add that whilst I've nothing against Ross and want him to do well, 4-3-3 isn't getting the best out of the players he has.
Justin once said that you (the manager) plays to the players strengths, not the other way round. This was so refreshing to here and it certainly worked.

As much as I hate to be the voice of reason on here. We are still unbeaten.

"Crying out for a centre half"?
Think some people are crying out for a reason to moan about the club/team whilst results are denying them their usual moans

Re: Crying out for a Centre Half..
Either an LB or CB would solidify that area. Widdowson hasn't had a chance for a decent run of games at L2 level, preferably as a no-no sense LB or club seems to see him as a CB now which is a bit weird but in theory solves that area numbers-wise.
Personally I'd like to see an LB come in then Brophy can play further up and not have to worry about defensive duties.

Yup, from the first moment he arrived he kept things simple and didn't overthink them. Just got players in their preferred positions, made them work hard for each other and went with a shape and playing style that was straightforward and effective.
