Apparently it is not cut and dried but she seems to be in pole position for the job.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 10:49 amStill won't be watching, just like the last twenty odd years.
Bit sad that Sue loses her job because of her age and race though, the media seem to be allowed to do this sort of thing.

Re: A Question of Sport
Seems to be confirmed now, and Lineker picking up a lot of criticism for 'race baiting' for ending his tweet on the subject with “and if you have a problem with Alex getting the job, you might just be part of the problem.”
Quite, let’s not try to stir up race trouble where there is none!

Re: A Question of Sport
I remember when Sue Barker played Tennis she was also "Top Totty" and she has been a very good presenter of other sports programmes espescially Wimbledon over the years. Hopefully she keeps her position as presenter of Wimbledon and is not replaced because of ageism espescially by someone who has never played the sport before and has no real knowledge of the sport but fit's the agenda.
None of the above applies to Alex Scott who knows her sport, is a good presenter plus as Tuffers said she is "Top Totty".
Lastly just wanted to put a word in for Caroline Barker who presents EFL football on Sky she is knowledgable and good at her job. I dont think thier related.

Re: A Question of Sport
A television programme refreshing its lead to reinvigorate itself is hardly a new thing (some even make it a part of their appeal, Doctor Who for one). The facts are that Sue Barker has lasted longer (23 years) as presenter than even David Coleman did (18 years), and that there hasn't been any change in its line-up for 12 years.

Tanni Grey-Thompson would tick a couple of boxes but probably doesn't have the time nowadays.

Re: A Question of Sport
Alex Scott has got the Sue Barker position apparently.
Tough on Sue, as she was competent, and to be replaced by a much younger woman must be hard on her
BBC showing its diversity credentials again in a brutal way. Poor Sue

Being used by the BBC just so they can be seen to be doing something about diversity.
Also not sure how qualified she really is given the terrible quality of women's football.

24 years in the same job in the entertainment industry. She ain’t done too bad. Longer than most. Time to freshen up the programme. Personally if Alex Scott gets the job I’d say the Beeb have made a good choice.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 12:02 pm Alex Scott has got the Sue Barker position apparently.

I stopped watching some time ago. Same old, same old. Like endless repeats.

Re: A Question of Sport
Sue barker is bland and and “tuffers” ain’t funny but when you 100% categorically know that a middle aged white straight male or female will not get the job then you have a problem. The BBC are racist and ageist. They are the primary instigators of the culture war. Look at jug ears tweet after the appointment was made and then the comments on Twitter. Split right down the middle and dividing people in two groups. It is not the job of our national broadcaster to do that.

It's all opinions but I just find Lineker dull after 20 years. Found him dull from day 1 to be fair.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 12:28 amCompletely disagree... Gary Lineker, Shearer &Wrighty, are a perfect combination IMO

Dont see a problem with
Lineker being in Charge
It seems many dislike him now after
He decided to home a Refugee .
Good on ya Fella .

Once again the Tuffers finger has missed the pulse.
Out of interest though when did this refugee move in?
