Re: First Car
Rare car now that is worth a lot of money !
Always liked the look but at the time was too young to drive one, cars like the Austin Mini helped kill off the bubble cars.
One going here for £35,117 !

300 cc? I had one, had to sell it for 100 quid to pay my mortgage in 1982 sadly.

Re: First Car
Quite unbelievable, these little Isetta bubble cars going for as much as £21,995 on this internet Isetta sale site !
Like so many of the old 1950s British motor bikes I used to buy for £5 to £10 at the motor cycle club that I used to go to in the sixties when I was young, some now being sold for many thousands of pounds !

1979 Vauxhall Chevette. Just like someone said with their HA Viva, I was forever resetting the points on this.

Re: First Car
Also can’t drive. Can I ask your reason? Its rare to see someone else of my age (ish) who has opted out of that

Re: First Car
took a couple of tests in the 80's and almost crashed the car twice decided driving wasn't for me.
Neither did my missus until we had our daughter in a few years ago.
Lived in London all our lives so we never really needed to until then.

Re: First Car
Had maybe 10 or 12 lessons when I was 17 and just didn't really get on with it, partly me, partly my instructor I think (he was a bit weird and kept regaling me with some Bravo Two Zero sh*t about what special forces got up to in the Falklands).
From that point on, just never really needed to. Uni + post-Uni life in Hull, easy bus ride to wherever I needed to go or otherwise walkable. Just didn't need to drive. Always suspected I'd perhaps missed the boat but had other priorities to spend time/limited money on. Since moving to London, more or less the same - good public transport + cost/time of learning means it's just not happened. I'd like to be *able* to drive, mainly to take some pressure off Mrs PJ when we hire a car for holiday or whatever but can't see when I'd have time to learn, at least for a few years.

1000 cc Morris Minor circa 1968 . I'm in my 70's and it was ten years old when l bought it. Never broke down at all. All cars of that era had terrible rust problems.
