Re: Tommy Doyle
Would be pretty shocked if this was true, he's on the fringes of the city first team and has made a few appearances for them.

Re: Tommy Doyle
I’ve heard he doesn’t fit in at City. He’s never started a punch up with Police or screwed prossies and his idea of a good roast is Sunday lunch with his family.

I'd be pretty shocked if it were true too, but that's because it's a rumour from EFL HubMistadobalina wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 12:36 pm Would be pretty shocked if this was true, he's on the fringes of the city first team and has made a few appearances for them.

Re: Tommy Doyle
Just watched you tube video of him and i know it's only clips but he looked very impressive. Plays central midfield, right footed, good passer of a ball, confident taking people on and can score a goal. Would fit in the midfield and compete for selection with Clay, Wright and possibly Jobi (game time).
Another rumour so probably wont happen anyway.

EFL Hub talk bull crap. If you want a reliable EFL transfer feed on Twitter, check out @EFLTRANSFERTALK. Very in the know this one.

Apparently Lings was incessantly just tell him to ‘go on’ over and over every time he turned us down.

Re: Tommy Doyle
If it did happen (unlikely IMO) and he had the same impact for us as another Man. City player we signed in summer '71, I'd be very happy.
Oh, for you young 'uns, we signed Ian Bowyer (father of Lee) from Man City in summer 71, who promptly scored a hat-trick in his first match and was top scorer that season.

Sorry to be a pendant but you mean Gary Bowyer (managed Blackburn and Blackpool) not Lee, of Charlton and Leeds infamyEliotNes wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 1:19 pm If it did happen (unlikely IMO) and he had the same impact for us as another Man. City player we signed in summer '71, I'd be very happy.

Re: Tommy Doyle
I also remember it as his home debut again Cardiff 4-1 on 21st August 1971, but strangely enough looking through my programmes from time he's listed on the team sheet in the Home League Cup match on 17th August 1971 against Notts. County which was a 1-1 draw the Tuesday before? He's also on that cover with a photo of him scoring against Arsenal for Man City. Perhaps he didn't play?EliotNes wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 1:19 pm If it did happen (unlikely IMO) and he had the same impact for us as another Man. If anyone has an explanation for this or can tell me how to insert an image I will do so. It makes interesting reading with the chairman A.E. Page saying and I quote 'On and off the field we are trying to prove that this a club of true First Division potential. We feel sure it will not be long before that potential is realised'

Re: Tommy Doyle
Absoloutely agree a hat-trick on debut, cant get any better. Think we paid £40,000 to Man City and a player hardly mentioned who went on to have a great career at Forest. Cloughie converted him into a midfield player.
