Given we all watched the same stream I may as well start this thread. Deserved winners after an averageish first half where our main tactic was to stay tight and get Happe to hoof it up to Angol. In teh second half we started to pass it around and got what we deserved.

Vigouroux - 7 - good first half and couldn''t have done anything for the goal. Otherwise not much to do.
Ling - 5 - bloody awful. It took 80 minutes before he cut out a cross. To blame for the goal and never got tight at any point so crosses coming in all game
Coulson - 7 - solid at the back. Hopefully back to his best
Happe - 7 - also had a good game. unlucky for the goal
McAnuff - 7 - a bit anonymous in the first half but had a good second half
Clay - 7.5 - seemed to pop up everywhere and hassled their midfield all game. Hopefully also back to his best
Cisse - 7 - did the job he was asked to do, marshal the line in front of the back four
Angol - - 6.5 - ran all day, providing excellent cover for Brophy. Up front he still takes 3 x as long to make a decision as anybody else and it's not always the right one
Johnson - 8 - caused trouble early in the first half but disappeared for the rest of the half. Was a handful in the 2nd half and a netted a strikers goal
Wilkinson - 8 - love him so much I want to have his babies. His touch with the ball was head and shoulders above anyone else on the park, he provided cover for Ling and what a goal.

Dayton - 6 - did his job when he came on
Wright - n/a
Widdowson - n/a

Good win. Was out all day so only know the score. How did we look and how did we line up in terms for formation. Wonder if this is the team for the first League game. Surprised Wright was dropped.

Danny Johnson could be a nice surprise this year. Sounds sharp and a bit of a poacher.

Thanks a lot for the ratings!

How was Brophy at left back? I was surprised to see him start over Widdowson in an away game.

4-3-3 with Johnson as the target man and Wilkinson and Angol covering for Ling and Brophy respectively. When we weren't hoofing it we had a good few players up front with Clay and McAnuff getting involved. Johnson looks much better in one game than he did in his half a dozen games last season

These ratings are about right.
I don’t normally like to criticise Ling but he was poor today and he seemed to ‘sell himself’ when FGR got their goal.
I thought he dived in leaving the right flank open and we were exposed and Happe was unlucky to have touched the cross.
FGR seemed to target our right flank and their left wing back was able to get in numerous crosses.
I thought in the 1st half that Johnson was too far apart from Angol and Wilkinson, and I’d like to see them play closer together.
Overall a good performance especially in the 2nd half.

Never got forward but was solid at the back with the support of Angol and Happe.

Thanks. Sort of expected Jobi to sit a bit and rate Wright more than Clay in a more attacking role but let’s see what the lineup is next week. Also no JMD is interesting.

Let’s draw the hammers now

Has scored goals absolutely everywhere and at 27 probably coming into his better years. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him get 15 this season.

We were a team of two halves, first we were on the back foot, slow and creating nothing in thier half.
The second half we came out on the front foot and took our goals well, espescially Wilkinson's goal.
Keeper played well made couple of good saves, centre backs really good (pleased for Coulson). The forwards much improved in the second and that was all down to the different approach we came out with.
Left him to last but Jobi Macanuff is something else, he competed all game made a terriffic run down the left and also was the last man in defence when making a goal scoring clearence to deny FGR.
My definite M.O.M keep him wrapped up for next week.
As regards FGR not really that impressed, slow in build up and only thier wide man on the left looked dangerous.
Sorry cant remember his name.
Good start, 7/10 performance and definetly more in the tank.

When we signed Johnson someone on here described him as a useless tap in merchant.....for me he works hard makes some clever runs and can finish.

Despite having a decent pre-season and being the clear favourite to start, it was obvious Judd wasn’t going to feature today after being bombed out of both the Gillingham and Bishops Stortford game last weekend. He was the only fit first team squad player not to feature in either game.

What is surprising is that young Shad has also been dumped out of the squad. I know he too had been singled out by Ross for undue criticism but he looked worth an outing.

But what’s the most surprising is leaving Turley on the bench and playing Ling. Absolutely staggering decision.

Just looked through the BBC minute by minute thing and have decided to revise my ratings. Ling now 8.5 MOM. Big mistake actually watching the match, will revert to BBC thing on Tuesday and the weekend Oldham game.

Can’t disagree with the ratings too much. I don’t like Brophy at LB. waste. But I thought he had a good game in that position. Didn’t think Jobi was anonymous first half, his effort and general support was pretty good. Coulson and Happe generally solid.

Decent win despite so many crosses coming in from their left. Waiting for one to cause a goal. Pitiful. But their guy looked decent so maybe that was why.

No one has said Judd has an injury, he’s just dropped.

I honestly expected Turley to play at CB. As he didn’t, I would have him as first choice RB over the pair of them. It’s baffling how Ling got the nod.

Given that performance tho, it has to be rectified for the next game.

The manager picked a team, he felt would win the game & we won the game. Job done & well done Ross.
Whatever the rest of us think what team he should have picked doesn't matter when we're in the draw for the next round.
The half time comments on twitter yesterday were hilarious. Get Wilko off for JMD, Jobi's off it, why is Brophy playing Left Back. Coulson instead of Turley ???
Fast forward to 90 minutes I bet there were a few clowns choking on humble pie.
