Re: Ya Ya Toure
You mean the ex Os player Ollie Palmer, a guy who runs non stop in every game he plays in, who this season scored 2 goals in double quick time against the Os when he came on as a sub, a player who has a decent goal scoring record for Crawley of 27 league goals in 68 games, the same guy who has just signed for a Division One team, yes still playing, a decent lower league player of the present and not of the past as my above comment alluded to ! Lastly, Ollie played for a season and a half during that dreadful period when the Italian owned the club and unlike some, he always gave it his best in every game he played in. At any level of sport, I will always have time for players who go out and give their all regardless of their skill level and Ollie was not as bad as some people on this forum try to make out.Disoriented wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 12:15 pmLike Ollie Palmer?Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 11:26 amAgree, some people on this forum get rather carried away with what some players did in the past, but time moves on and as a whole, footballers have a rather short shelf life.Millennial Snowflake wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 10:13 am Are people saying he’ll get 15-25 goals for us based on a YouTube compilation and a 30-second video of him playing keep ball with the rest of the squad?

I loved Palmer for his tremendous effort and told his father this. I said the goals would come and they did- after he left us

Even Ollie Palmer?

Re: Ya Ya Toure
You love to argue and this subject about Palmer has been one of your main bones of contention on this forum since the guy joined the Os. I liked him, you did not. He was playing for us at a bad time, did his best and has done ok in his last two season with Crawley and will be playing for a Division One team next season. Lastly, how did you feel last season when he popped in two goals against us in double quick time ?Disoriented wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 9:36 pmBut you said footballers have a short shelf life.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 2:45 pmYou mean the ex Os player Ollie Palmer, a guy who runs non stop in every game he plays in, who this season scored 2 goals in double quick time against the Os when he came on as a sub, a player who has a decent goal scoring record for Crawley of 27 league goals in 68 games, the same guy who has just signed for a Division One team, yes still playing, a decent lower league player of the present and not of the past as my above comment alluded to ! Re: Ya Ya Toure
Dis is correct when he said he was pants for us...he was, and none with any credibility can deny that ( 65 apps/12 goals), but he wasnt very good for Lincoln city either in 2017/18, ( 45 apps/8 goals).
Its only been with Crawley, that his record is better.
If Sid liked him, thats Sids choice, and he has every right, but for me, he was terrible

Re: Ya Ya Toure
Palmer is 28, a whole decade younger than Toure. Incredible that a thread about Toure has become a debate about Palmer. That may say a lot about how far Toure's stock has fallen...

Re: Ya Ya Toure
I liked Ollie as a really decent young man and for the effort he put in, yes not the most blessed with skills but made the best of what he had and improved a lot since he left us. His work rate and general contributions often helped to take pressure of our defence, also his efforts and assists helped others to score as in @Stamford O comment ''I liked him.always a trier and started that move for Blair turgots goal''RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 11:04 amHe wouldn't have been a bad replacement for Harrold.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 9:27 am Dis is correct when he said he was pants for us...he was, and none with any credibility can deny that ( 65 apps/12 goals), but he wasnt very good for Lincoln city either in 2017/18, ( 45 apps/8 goals).

As to being a possible replacement for Matt Harrold, well much as I like Ollie, I am not blind to his deficiencies and for a big man he was not that great when it came to winning balls in the air, also not that good when it came to the power and direction of headers that he did win.

The same reasons as to why so many on here ( myself included ) liked the guy when he was at the Os has been repeated again and again and again but seems like it has not sunk in with you yet. You are the one who somehow linked this Ya Ya Toure thread to the subject of your favourite scapegoat, Ollie Palmer, so I I finish my comment by asking you once again...... ( you ducked this question when I asked you before ! )
So how did you feel last season when Palmer popped in two goals against us in double quick time ?

Hopefully after Ollie Palmer scored those goals, you were able to get your hands on a delicious Orient Doughnut and in the afterglow felt throughout your whole body after eating that tasty morsel.........it all helped to restore the smile on your face !

One minute he buys cakes for the LOFC squad and then it's hookers for his Soccer Aid team mates, not sure what he was thinking obviously a joke in bad taste that has gone horribly wrong.
