Re: Rachel Markle
I actually met my ex walking home at 5am in the morning from a lock in at possibly the worst bit in the world. I was carrying a cone that I had put my chips in (and couldn't reach at the bottom) and she was leaving a Premier Inn where she had had a successful conclusion to a date. It's like Mills and Boon, really.

But Saturday night was always full price for drinks as opposed to £1 a pop on Thursdays back in the day. The wimmin may have been to a lower standard, but then they couldn't afford to be too fussy. Worked for me.

Re: Rachel Markle
For starters: she financed her own life style. Unlike most of the Royal family who were born and live in extreme luxury courtesy of the tax payers.
The viciousness with which the media is now hounding her (and Prince Harry) is quite disturbing.

Re: Rachel Markle
Evidence for the fact that she made a film? So what? It was never a secret. Prince Harry had a life of mixed experiences before they met and connected.
Given that Prince Harry is no longer living a life of luxury courtesy of the British tax payer - just why is there such a media hate campaign against him?
I am actually much more worried about Prince William. He seems to suggest that his mother should have kept quiet about her husband's (his father's) affair with Camilla! Seems that he is blaming Bashir for the fact that his father's cheating, dishonesty and betrayal of marriage vows became public knowledge through the Diana interview.

Evidence she made bad films and i am sure has led a very disadvantaged life, but are you mixing her up with Diana? That is a a retorical question, i dont really don't care.E10EU wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 2:25 amEvidence for the fact that she made a film? So what? It was never a secret. Re: Rachel Markle
I think what William is trying to say is that, when an organisation knowingly harbours and protects a wrong-doer, that's a bad thing.
Meanwhile, and in completely unrelated news, it was good to see the Royal Family giving Prince Andrew an airing at the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral.

Re: Rachel Markle
Not to diminish Bashir's shady practices, it seems to me like all this self-flagellation from the BBC is entirely playing into the hands of those who would either have it run down (Daily Mail, Murdoch et al) or want more control over it (the government).
If either of those were to happen I think it would be a case of us only realising what we had when it was gone.

Re: Rachel Markle
Yup. The Mail has been wanking itself dry the last couple of days, piling in its campaign of disinformation over an event that took place a quarter of a century ago. The BBC isn’t faultless but it’s streets ahead of any other state broadcaster in the world. It should be defended to the hilt.o-no wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 1:04 pm Not to diminish Bashir's shady practices, it seems to me like all this self-flagellation from the BBC is entirely playing into the hands of those who would either have it run down (Daily Mail, Murdoch et al) or want more control over it (the government).

Re: Rachel Markle
By all means defend the Beeb against the usual shysters and self-interested parties. Even keep the current licence fee arrangement if that's what peop!e prefer to ads or subscriptions. But it should never be above constructive criticism.
As to The Sussex's, I have to currently listen to my mother in law slam into Harry and Markel on an almost daily basis as she reads the latest trash talk in her online "news" feeds. She's not even a Royalist - more an avid soap fan with a respect for Brenda's sense of dignified duty, who sees the Royal Carry On as an extension of that genre. Guess all these shows need a panto villain...

The self flagellation going on within the beeb over the bashing stuff is hilarious.
They need to take a leaf out of Murdoch and Morgan et al’s books.

This is also the 'news' screen I get when logging in to the internet. It is dominated by links to the Daily Express and they offer scope for comments.
Those comments mostly are shocking in their simple mindedness and hatred (always towards the EU, always towards Megan and Harry, always towards Labour). The manipulative power of this is truly frightening! Personally, I am feeling quite scared of where this hatred will go.
Hard to imagine that it was only 11 years ago that the UK and London was a happy and welcoming place to the world in the Olympic Games!

The Tories have been aiming to get the BBC to be their mouth piece.
The BBC has already dumbed down on their political reporting so as not to displease the Tories in power. Their reporting is not objective.
The BBC's primary interest seems to be keeping their presenters and themselves on the gravy train, salaries way above 'average wages'.
Many people 'sell their soul for money' and I expect that the BBC will do the same.

Their discrediting of the Bashir interview is their latest attempt to 'nail it'.

Even in the middle of a pandemic we’re still welcoming flights from countries with a high rate of infection every day.
