A better World A Universal Basic Income

Post by Thor »

Times are changing and I hope faster than what this report says. People will do more to help others, life will get better for all people. Gesara is coming and this is another little point towards that.

“Magic money tree” and all that.

It will happen. The righties won’t like it.

But people won’t be kinder, they are selfish and when it comes to money most people don’t give a f*** if a kid is starving somewhere if it means they save an extra 2 quid a month in tax.

People will do more to help others?

Do you honestly include the UK in that statement?

I have NEVER known UK Society more broken; more selfish; more of a divide (both financially and politically) or more without hope.

The United Kingdom (for however long that may last!) has already passed the point of no return. If this Country was an animal, it would have been put down by now, to stop any further pain or suffering.

I cannot wait to leave; and would honestly advise others to seriously consider doing likewise.

Leave to go where?

I have family and friends here - I don’t consider it a realistic option/cop out.

Also quite fancy getting back in “Brisbane Road“.

Can you imagine the influx of people to the first country that introduces this?

No comment to make on the basic income principle but I find it interesting that some are saying our (UK) society is broken, selfish and divided. What I find so interesting about that is the massive disconnect between what the world seems like if you relate through social media (where it does, indeed, seem to be broken) and the reality of what I find in day to day interaction with real live people where the world seems to be full of nice, decent considerate humans. Thoughts?

Thats because social media is full of nutters vying for attention or in endless political spats. Most people arent listening thankfully.

Yes where is this magic Utopia where everything is so much better ?
Many throughout the World are suffering far more than we are in the UK.
That is part of the reason why so many risk their lives to reach these shores.

Most are nice and decent.

But many people are selfish (or, at least, more than they were) - we've spent the last 40-odd years telling and retelling people that the individual is more important than society, that they should take care of themselves first. People do what suits them and their families first and foremost.

Some people wont even wear a f*cking piece of cloth or paper over their face for the 20 minutes it takes to whizz round Sainsburys as a courtesy to their fellow shoppers.

Unless living in Countries with much stricter laws than we have in the UK e.g
''Some people wont even wear a f*cking piece of cloth or paper over their face for the 20 minutes it takes to whizz round Sainsburys as a courtesy to their fellow shoppers.''......
Well much the same mindset applies in many other countries especially the USA. Some people who treat it all as a joke, fake virus etc or I am young and invincible kind of thinking ! I was staggered to see a young women working in a well known supermarket that I went to just after the wearing masks in supermarket rule came in. She was walking around the self checkout area, unmasked laughing and treating it all as a joke. I asked a lady who works there why was the young lady in question not wearing a mask, she said the girl refuses to wear a mask ( she has no medical condition to merit her choice ) and that the manager of the store cannot make any customers or staff wear masks, in other words, not a mandatory rule at all, some people just not bothering at all to take the health risks of this virus seriously.
