What would be more suitable is for a Legends match between Spurs and Orient to take place at the end of the season, ideally at Spurs as most O's fans would buy a ticket to see the new stadium, but failing that at Orient. Match could also be streamed with streaming profits to the JE3 Foundation.

Yes, they played awfully and we played really well, which can happen occasionally. We narrowly avoided relegation and they won promotion that season BTW. Wouldn't want to run the risk of being heavily beaten at this moment in time if I were Ross.
I don’t want us to be beaten heavily at any moment in time. I want us to win every time, even friendlies. However, if we played a full strength Spurs team and lose heavily, I doubt there would be too much panic. Nor too much of a blow to our confidence.

What this seems to me is a lost opportunity to benefit the JE3 foundation. Us against Spurs U23 behind closed doors, with no streaming relegates it to just another preseason warm up.

A game against their full team benefits no one other than entitled Orient fans. Ross and the coaching staff don’t want to get battered in pre-season. They want games against solid opposition than will test the team and enable us to put pre-season training into practice, he said as much on Saturday. The game against their u23s will now be a yearly thing called the JE3 cup.

What sort of crowd do posters think this game would have attracted if spectators were allowed in ??
I would say no more than 3,000 if played in August unless Spurs played 2 or 3 with first team experience.

I stand by my opening post on the matter.

It's a pisstake. Not out of Orient but out of Justin and the Foundation.

I'd still rather have a full strength Newport or Gillingham at this stage of the season.

They don't care about him because they won't send their first team for a behind closed doors pre-season game that won't be streamed and was only made a few days ago? Have a word with yourself ffs. One of the most entitled posts I've ever seen on this forum.

Andy- agree with you on lots of things but imo that Spurs have not fully honoured the late JE by sending their kids. We played Spurs around 10years ago in a friendly & held their own. I dount if Mourinho knows much about JE but they have taken the michael on this one. I don't recall them doing much to honour him?

Thought we lost about 1-6 Nick or am I imagining it?
All about opinions mate, and I respect your right to disagree with mine. Agree that aligning Justin with this wasn't the best decision imo, but there you go. Hopefully there will be a more fitting match at the other end of the season.

If it was a tenner a head and billed as a Justin tribute, we’d get 5 - 6,000 in.

That was the game and the only time I’ve punched someone at a football game. There was about five or six spurs fans drinking, swearing and being a pain in the arse. I asked them to pipe down as my son who must have been 6 or 7 was having to listen to all this. Anyway halftime arrives and one of them sits on my sons lap, I ask him what does he thinks he’s doing and he squares up to me so he got smacked good and proper. The argument carries on as he stewards get involved pretty sharpish and I end up smacking him again by the stairs. He gets chucked out and I get to stay in. I calmly ask his mates if anyone of them wants some as well, they all declined and left.

I’ve never thrown a punch before or after that incident at football. Spurs fans are a bunch of self centrered fans who think they have a right or belief that they are better than anyone else. Can’t stand them as fans.

Good decision by club getting this sorted, now hope people who watch will donate - could still bring in a tidy sum for JE3

Sorry Andy but the timing of this game is all wrong. What does the JE Foundation get from this game with no fans attending. If the fans were to attend it would have been a sell out even playing against Spurs under 23. Take your point a Legends match later in the season at Spurs ground would have a bigger impact.

Maybe both clubs are making cash donations to the fund?
