Knew someone would make a negative comment
This boy is something special.....you better embrace it, cos when its gone, ....its gone
And the other day you called me a sycophant because you felt I agreed with everything the club does. Make up your mind.
You are a sycophant.....and you know it.
Everyone MUST agree about Ruel, because hes so special.
Ive been involved in football for donkeys years, and this boy is so special
The cynic in me says that because he had signed for us he can’t be that good and I will stick with my point that young, small, nippy and somewhat skilful forwards can often have an initial spurt of goal scoring before getting found out very quickly especially in lower leagues and usually with a kick or two. Who knows though, perhaps he can make it and even the grumpiest bastards like me should be happy for just one day. Well done the club.

Do you know for a fact that it was ML’s fault? What evidence have you got, other than your own assumptions, to be so convinced?
On the basis you don’t have ANY evidence do us all a favour and stop having a moan at anything ML or anyone else does for our club.
Do you seriously believe our chairman, who by any standards is a very successful business man, would appoint and keep ML if he was not up to the job? I am sure NT knows far more about management, running a business, communication, recruiting and appointing staff than you do. So give it a rest and start being positive, you might even enjoy it .
ML is in charge of everything football related at the club. Ruel's contract was allowed to get to the last year, not involved in the first team and then shipped out on loan. Whilst you can't make a player sign, it's no wonder he wanted to leave when he couldn't even get minutes infront of Alabi.
They brought ML in because they needed someone who knows Orient and football to oversee everything football related whilst they concentrated on stabilising and making money for the club. As long as ML isn't p*ssing money away, they don't care. Just look at how Kent made his money. Do you think the owners really care about who is at right back? Or whether we're playing James Brophy in his best position or not? They will never get involved because of what Bechetti was getting up to.
Whilst NT knows more about running a business, I give them £300 up front every summer and put money into the club every week, so I'm entitled to an opinion on how the club is being run. I happen to think Nigel, Kent and Danny are doing a pretty good job overall. Martin Ling on the other hand, I don't.
So you happen to think Nigel and Kent are doing a pretty good job overall, yet the most important footballing position at the club is in the hands of a man doing a poor job IYO. How can Nigel and Kent be doing a good job when you think they've got this wrong?
Your problem is that you pay £300 a year and want £1m worth of opinion.
Do you know what overall means?
What does that even mean? If you bought a product for £300 that turns out to be pretty sh*t, would you just say ‘well, the bloke in charge of it is doing his best’ or would you question why it’s sh*t and how it could improve?

You're just moaning for the sake of it now, just accept you got this one wrong like everyone else has, there is no harm in it because you're a human being and you will get it wrong occasionally.

I don’t think you need to remotely consider that you might be a cynic. Brilliant young footballers of 17 frequently run out of steam and crash and burn. We hope it won’t happen to Ruel but who knows if he will continue with his upward trajectory.

Hopefully he starts every week and we play to his strengths. It was frustrating seeing him shifted out wide. He obviously didn’t get the offers he thought he would.
For those congratulating Ling, it was his fault that we even got into this position with Ruel.

Totally agree. People forget what ML achieved when the club was taken over. We had about 8 players including youngsters on the payroll. He had 4 weeks to put together a team and coaching staff . OK some decisions did not materialise as we all thought but we were on a learning curve. I have great respect for ML and his achievements to date. Ruel was out of contract l believe his head was turned by his agent who thought he would do better elsewhere. Covid has changed football and agents will have to change there views accordingly.

What exactly did I get wrong? He was mismanaged going into the last year of his contract and he was hoping for offers from bigger clubs/higher divisions.

So because he scraped a squad together in 4 weeks, he shouldn’t ever be criticised? You can respect the good he has done in his role as DOF and getting Orient promoted when he was manager and still question things he gets wrong.

You can also respect someone's past achievements without assuming that validates their capability many years later, or in a very different setting.
Equally you can respect the fact that as the senior person at the club for football, he played a not-insignificant role in us getting out of the Conference in 2 years. Which isn't that common.
Honestly the Martin Ling thing is weird. If we had been 16th-22nd in League Two for 5 years on the trot I'd get it. But we haven't. It almost seems personal for some with him.
What utter cr.p you spout. Delighted you contribute £300.00 + to the club each season but I’d almost pay you to stop your endless criticism and moaning. Be happy for the club, be happy for Ruel and be happy for ML. He does not need or deserve your unstoppable ranting. Would you like it if you were criticised so publicly in your chosen career for everything you did? ML was a great servant as a player got us promoted at Oxford and was ever present after our drop into the conference. Two years later we are back in the league. By any reckoning that is a pretty good record.
Go for a long walk and think about all your vitriolic ranting at ML and then tell me you have no regrets.
Idiot!
Personally, I don't have feelings about him either way. Back in 2009, when "Ling Out" first started to make its ugly appearance, I stayed neutral, as I thought it was a bit premature. Doubtless there'll be some of our fans that back him now who were on his back back then.
I just think he's clearly not going to take us forward - he DAJ in 2017 when we needed a squad piecing together in a hurry, but that's a very different task to establishing us in League 1 and looking up rather than down.

I get far more abuse doing my job than Martin Ling will ever get being DOF
I just said you can appreciate the good he has done and question things he gets wrong. Clearly reading is beyond your capability. I'm far from vitriolic, my opinions are balanced and never personal. Not very nice calling a key worker an idiot, you must respect me. I have a higher standing in society than you.

That's one thing I can't stand is all that sh*t in the stands and booing of players. Helps nothing and no one.

Fair enough. I wasn't on his back when it began but it was clearly time to go when he did.
I just personally don't see what you're basing that 'clearly' on, but its your shout.
