Hopefully this is the begining of the club becoming more pro-active with our youngsters, if they show potential get them on pro contracts more quickly and youngsters are a cheaper option than the regular run of the mill everyday experience player doing the rounds. They also have the potential to bring financial rewards to the club plus enhancing our reputation within youth development.

Yes he should have been promoted above senior players having never made a first team appearance.

Re: Ruel Sotirisigned
Interesting take. That suggests the club had no idea of Ruel’s ability and thought a man who scored a grand total of 2 goals in the vanarama for us would be the best option. So, when would you have given Ruel a chance last season? With it being his last year of his deal and all.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 6:12 pm Yes he should have been promoted above senior players having never made a first team appearance.

For those congratulating Ling, it was his fault that we even got into this position with Ruel.
Moan about something club/ling has done
End result correct = win
End result wrong = win because good for club AND you can still blame Ling anyway
ML has achieved what he set out to do and Ruel has probably got more out of the club than he would have when he was first offered a new deal last November. We got a player who EVERYBODY wanted to keep and for that reason we should all be happy without recriminations.

Re: Ruel Sotirisigned
Wasn't expecting this, hopefully he can continue with his good form.
It will be interesting to see where the agenda's of Disoriented, Apple Wumble and ComeOnYouOs go from here. Can they just post up what their reactions would've been if Ruel Sotiriou had left please? I was particularly looking forward to ComeOnYouOs trademark rant
So if I could get at least that please, I will be a happy man
Part of me was really looking forward to seeing them saying that they've been right all along and they should have more of a say on matters, because they've never been wrong about anything, ever.
BiggsyMalone has already done his - He's covered all bases and hoping his deflated ego can get some much needed air back. He badly needs us to start off poorly so he can get some browny points back, so all is not lost yet.

They either rated him or they didn’t. There’s no way he should have been behind AlabiPrestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 7:04 pmWhen he was ready. As pleased as I am surprised he's signed a new contract, clearly has good potential, needs to be given a run in the first team, and I share the amazement expressed here that he seemed to have be behind Alabi in the pecking order.

Re: Ruel Sotirisigned
I would have thought we would want to get a 3 year contract signed or at least have the option to extend in the clubs favour. Neither were mentioned. We will if he does well be in the same position next season as he runs into the last year of his deal when he can walk for free.
However I'm really happy he has signed.

Re: Ruel Sotirisigned
Good news. I thought he was gone to be honest.
Can't help feeling he was holding out for something better, which didn't materialise, rather than that he was finally persuaded by master negotiator Ling - but that said, I feel a bit more optimistic about our chances now.

Do you know for a fact that it was ML’s fault? What evidence have you got, other than your own assumptions, to be so convinced?BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 5:08 pm Hopefully he starts every week and we play to his strengths. On the basis you don’t have ANY evidence do us all a favour and stop having a moan at anything ML or anyone else does for our club.
Do you seriously believe our chairman, who by any standards is a very successful business man, would appoint and keep ML if he was not up to the job? I am sure NT knows far more about management, running a business, communication, recruiting and appointing staff than you do. So give it a rest and start being positive, you might even enjoy it .

Re: Ruel Sotirisigned
ML is in charge of everything football related at the club. Ruel's contract was allowed to get to the last year, not involved in the first team and then shipped out on loan. Whilst you can't make a player sign, it's no wonder he wanted to leave when he couldn't even get minutes infront of Alabi.Winchesterfan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 11:28 pmDo you know for a fact that it was ML’s fault? They brought ML in because they needed someone who knows Orient and football to oversee everything football related whilst they concentrated on stabilising and making money for the club. As long as ML isn't pissing money away, they don't care. Just look at how Kent made his money. Do you think the owners really care about who is at right back? Or whether we're playing James Brophy in his best position or not? They will never get involved because of what Bechetti was getting up to.
Whilst NT knows more about running a business, I give them £300 up front every summer and put money into the club every week, so I'm entitled to an opinion on how the club is being run. I happen to think Nigel, Kent and Danny are doing a pretty good job overall. Martin Ling on the other hand, I don't.

Re: Ruel Sotirisigned
Lets all calm down!...we all want the club to do well and so far so good. Cisse was a good signing and now a home grown boy as committed for the next two years. Probably just two more to come and if there as good as these two i would be looking top half possibly play offs as against bottom half. Bettee to sign quality than quantity.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 11:20 pmYou are a sycophant.....and you know it.DuvB wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 10:50 pmAnd the other day you called me a sycophant because you felt I agreed with everything the club does. Re: Ruel Sotirisigned
I would guess that during the past two weeks a lot of talking has been going on and both parties have had to make concessions.
The club has probably gone well over thier initial offer but have diluted that down by only giving two years as against three that Sotoriou probably wanted.
The money his agent was asking for has probably been nearly met through bonuses. The deal suits all parties no transfer fee for the club and if Ruel does well a potential move halfway through his contract.
During the coming season if any other youngsters hold down a first team spot i.e Sweeney, Shabani, Kyprianu, Ogie or anyone else put them on new extended contracts dont wait until there in thier final year. This could be the start of a new positivety within the youth development and Orient supporters.

So you happen to think Nigel and Kent are doing a pretty good job overall, yet the most important footballing position at the club is in the hands of a man doing a poor job IYO. How can Nigel and Kent be doing a good job when you think they've got this wrong?BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 11:56 pmML is in charge of everything football related at the club. Your problem is that you pay £300 a year and want £1m worth of opinion.
