Interview with Ross - Ruel Yaya and Additions
Update from Ross:
Couple of minor injuries from pre season- Chigwell pitches are hard from the heat.
Friendlies - not expecting 90min for any of the players vs Reading under 23s
Ruel training with the club - still hoping that he signs
Yaya Toure has not trained at the club for a week or so - due to personal reasons - hope to see him back, if not he has been a big influence on the players and staff.
Additional players are being looked at with a couple expected to join within the financial constraints.

He sounds as cheesed off about a lack of movement as we all do.

Re: Interview with Ross - Ruel Yaya and Additions
Two quality signings plus Ruel and we should be good to go. Not ideal but i think at the end of this season and before the start of 2021/22 will make the defenition and future of the club much clearer on where we are as a club challenging for promotion from div 2.

I liked the bit at the end. Basically 'we have a load of sh*t under contract that we can't get shot of, so we have to wait until they're finished before improving on them'

Isn't that what all these coaches are meant to do? Somehow shape these players into something cohesive?BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 5:54 pm I liked the bit at the end. If we're just waiting to get shot of players to sign better ones then what is the point in coaching and all out coaches? We'd have been better off with a manager.
Which I suppose is what we've all been saying anyway.

Some of them aren’t good enough and can’t be coached. How many of this squad has A. Got better B. Young enough to get betterTent Keague wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 6:13 pmIsn't that what all these coaches are meant to do? Translation:
Sotiriou is biding his time to leave on deadline day but using Orient to stay match fit ready for his new club
The usual "couldn't find anyone who fits the group" line being readied for Ling to trot out when a replacement doesn't come in before the window closes.
If all else fails bring in a U23 player from the friendlies and hope for the best!

Thought what was said about Ruel was quite promising.

That almost throwaway line about "it's not all on his shoulders" seemed to be a sly dig at Sotiriou's agentPrestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 7:03 pm Thought what was said about Ruel was quite promising.

Definite outside influences. I thought I read somewhere that he had a connection to Sitton. Don't know if thats true and whether there are negatives there getting into the boys head

Re: Interview with Ross - Ruel Yaya and Additions
There could be a happy ending to this (i hope so) maybe the Orient have gone over and above with thier contract offer to Sotiriou. The possibilities are to bring in two forwards if they lose him could prove more costly with transfer fees/ signing on fees and wages. This is something more likely than not that they cant afford. As i said on another subject i think only one centre forward will be arriving anyway.
As against if Ruel signs and
he carries on with his form we could demonstrate that we produce home grown talent, who are young and potentially have a good sale on value that demonstrates the values and potential at the club.

Re: Interview with Ross - Ruel Yaya and Additions
Given that agent fees go towards the salary cap if that's one of his "demands" then club should send him packing and as above get two replacements instead. Imagine what he'll be like if Embleton decides to bench him at any pointAckneyAwks wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 8:14 pm There could be a happy ending to this (i hope so) maybe the Orient have gone over and above with thier contract offer to Sotiriou. Re: Interview with Ross - Ruel Yaya and Additions
gshaw what do you mean one of his "demands", what i am saying is the Orient have improved the offer to around similar to what a experienced centre forward would be paid and if they have to bring in one or two forwards your still having to pay those agents as well.gshaw wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 8:32 pmGiven that agent fees go towards the salary cap if that's one of his "demands" then club should send him packing and as above get two replacements instead. What will he be like if Embleton benched him? in fact i like it when a player shows some attitude, normally shows he cares.
The main gain in all of this is that the Orient produced a player, kept him and hopefully made money for a change. Who else has a transfer fee above thier head just one Dan Happe, thats one of our main problems.

That bit where he said we have a lot of players already under contract, then quickly added which we see as a positive
. Clearly there's a few he would have liked to move on

Around 4:10 on the latest Embleton video "a number of things were adapted and suited" to try and get him to sign, followed by "it's not all on his shoulders"AckneyAwks wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 9:56 pmgshaw what do you mean one of his "demands", what i am saying is the Orient have improved the offer to around similar to what a experienced centre forward would be paid and if they have to bring in one or two forwards your still having to pay those agents as well.gshaw wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 8:32 pmGiven that agent fees go towards the salary cap if that's one of his "demands" then club should send him packing and as above get two replacements instead. Seems like club are having to bend over backwards because a L2 youth player thinks they're "it" off the back of half a dozen decent games. Be it agent whispering in his ear or just a big ego that's not a good attitude imo.
Even if we had players to sell the money doesn't get reinvested. Goes to the Hearn family pension fund first and foremost then the
financial black hole that is the academy.

Re: Interview with Ross - Ruel Yaya and Additions
He's not a league 2 youth player he's 20yrs old and was probably one of the most positive things from last season. If i was his agent i would be pushing him forward for a contract that represents his value to the club, knowing what others are paid and what his potential could bring in for the club. As i said only Dan Happe with a pound note hanging over his head. This club will survive and prosper on youth development or struggle and drown in the second division.
All that negative talk of Barry Hearn and blackhole dont wash for me, we need to be more pro-active and more proffessional as the commercial side is showing.
I'm sure if Ruel stays many people will give him a hard time how wrong can they be.

Does that figure bother you, wheres your laughing smiley faces (expect them next reply
)...the £3k figure was mentioned around a month ago since then salary cap has come in but dont worry i'll stick with the figure and he wont be far short. I'm really surprised that people are shocked with that sort of wage in 2nd division proffessional football.

Re: Interview with Ross - Ruel Yaya and Additions
If was a 20 year prospect I would want 3 grand a week. Does not seem excessive even for lower leagues. After tax it’s only a little over a hundred a year. For me though, he doesn’t deserve it. A few goals in the conference and a handful for us isn’t enough. If he was bigger, the target man type then fine, but he is another Koroma (not saying Koroma is a bad player) Small and nippy with a bit of skill. There are hundreds of them about. They can develop into great players but it’s really difficult unless you are exceptional especially in the lower leagues. They tend to get kicked a lot and end up as plasterers and playing for Tiverton Town by 25.
