£1.5 million to include taxes and agents fees.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 4:18 pmBit confusing, I thought it was £1.5 million rather than £1.2 Million for League 2 ?
Wonder how all this will pan out and how can they enforce it this season or the season after ( if they do ) with some players who are already signed on long term contracts at high wages that will probably take some clubs over this salary cap of £1.5 Million.
League 1 and 2 clubs vote in favour of 'squad salary cap'
The EFL have announced that clubs in League One and League Two have today voted for the introduction of new financial controls in the form of ‘Squad Salary Caps’ into their respective divisions which take effect immediately.

I initially put £2.5million, which is what I heard on the radio but then I corrected my post in line with some feedback above since that was the amount for L1 teams. Didn't sense check the £1.2million quoted though. It is £1.5million.

Could make the odds of Soteriou signing a new contract a little more positive. Less money elsewhere making the clubs offer a little more attractive.

Wonder how clubs will work around the salary cap, perhaps a players wife paid to be on the admin team, bit like MPs hiring family to work in their offices to up their income?
No but ai will try and find out.

RE: the two teams that voted against
Well Ron Martin posted that he was against it, so safe to say Southend was one
My guess on the other would be Salford - I recall Gary Neville moaning about it on Sky a couple of times

So that puts Yaya out of the question unless he wants to play for £100k for the season.
Or did the O's make a sneaky signing this morning ahead of the deadline !

Understand Bradford, they regularly get massive crowds for that level and wont be able to use that to improve their squad.Top of the JES wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 5:04 pm Southend and Bradford City I believe we're the clubs who voted against.

Southend thought? Maybe because it will mean they have to spend the money on bloody bills instead now.

With 3 k a week going to Ruel , it must be 5 others to split £116kReal Al wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 4:08 pm6 of our players are under 21, so they don't count. Mind you, taxes, fees, bonuses etc. are also included, so I dunno what that would all add up to.

Will take a long time to fully implement, perhaps as long as 3 years time.

I said this on here weeks ago, someone will challenge it and it will become like the bosman case. Under eu law you can’t enforece this, it will be interesting how far someone will take this be it a player or union.Jaggsy1979 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 5:16 pm It begins...

I understand Martin Ling has registered an objection as the £1.5m does not include an allowance for his regular “ cup of coffee” meetings with prospective new coaches

Not sure why anyone thinks the football authorities will be any more successful with this regulaltion than any of the others that clubs have driven a coach and horses through. Clubs will find a way round it.

Re: Salary Cap decision day today.
It doesn't directly affect a players salary as it only applies to how much a club can spend overall. If a club wishes to pay a large amount to a few players and less to the others, that is their call surely.Jaggsy1979 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 5:16 pm It begins...

Re: Salary Cap decision day today.
now there is to be a legal challenge, does this mean, the status quo resumes, and there is no salary cap until the legal stuff has been sorted,( assuming the clubs win that legal challenge?)
