Re: Matt Harrold
If we take the coaching setup for our title squad and compare
Ottley > Brill
Webb > Senda
n/a > Harrold
n/a > Lawless (did that go through not seen it announced?)
Lots of extra coaching staff for why?

Re: Matt Harrold
It’s all very well hiring these extra coaches but is the club forgetting we still need another two or possibly three players. I thought money was tight at the moment

Re: Matt Harrold
Too many coaches learning on the job for my liking tbh.
Embleton - Still very much rookie Manager,
Brill - One season coaching,
Jobi - One season coaching,
Senda - One Season coaching at senior level,
Harrold - Nada,
As much as I like Matty, I would have thought bringing in a Russell Slade "type" of elder statesman to help Embleton would make more sense.

But its the perfect strategy for job preservation - get yourself surrounded with people and remove yourself from accountability The civil service have been doing it for years
As for bringing in a senior coach, my god Martin would choke on his crisps, to have any form of presence in the building that may have differing views, and may question, or want to change things, or upset anyone. Keep the pond settled.

Re: Matt Harrold
Personally I think this is a good move on the clubs part. He loves the club, he’s played many many games at our level and above so knows the environment he’ll be working in. He has managed at his previous club and by all accounts they did well and played some good football. He has pubically stated a desire to go down that route and I’m pleased it’s with us. He is a leader in the dressing room and as an elder statesman so to speak the players look up to him so this should bode well.
Welcome back Matt and good luck for the future.

I’m still confused! Has McAnuff been signed for another 12 months as a player or coach or a bit of both ?Top of the JES wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2020 5:06 pm Too many coaches learning on the job for my liking tbh.

Re: Matt Harrold
I've got a feeling Jobi may not see out the season with us. Hope i'm wrong but if injuries curtail his involvement on the playing side, where just where does he fit in on the coaching side with Ross, Danny, Matt and Dean already in place. Could be a move to another club but i see media and TV work on the horizon.
Our coaching set up is looking a bit like MasterChef, plenty of sous chefs but no Master.
This sounds like a moan but i really do want Ross and the boys to succeed, theyre all young and should be hungry...sorry for the pun!!

Re: Matt Harrold
Harrold was caretaker manager at Crawley for one game in 2016, they drew 2-2 with Plymouth and Dean Cox scored that day for Crawley I think.

Re: Matt Harrold
I've no problem with Harrold at all. I'd rather he was Head Coach if I'm being honest.
But we're massively overloaded with coaches. I'm all for coaching the last out of the players at our disposal but at one point you'll need better players.
It wasn't the coaching that got Bury and then Plymouth the next season promoted. It was the players.

Re: Matt Harrold
Go back 40 years and we made the F A Cup
semi final and were the equivalent of a
Championship side with a coaching staff of
roughly Bloomfield, Angell and Terry Long ..
Move forward to the 90s and we had Frank Clark
and Peter Eustace running the show..
It we carry on becoming the National Express of the footballing
world anyone with a season ticket in the Gallery will have to be
relocated to the East Stand as the home dugout is sent back 10
rows to fulfil all the extra coaches being taken on ..

Re: Matt Harrold
As much as I think the coaches thing is a bit boring and OTT sometimes, 5 minutes after saying we couldn't afford to whilst releasing two young members of staff doesn't sit right at all. I know we can say Harrold was already a wage, but right after claiming poverty is a piss take.

I wouldn't mind but the club have gone cap in hand to the ST holders to ask us to not ask for a refund on the missed games at the back end of last season. At the same time, Ling has got rid of Ottley and Baughurst because of the "economic climate" and needing to reduce the number of staff.
We've now got 3 first team coaches that have played for the club in the last year (one still plays sometimes). A manager that started sh*t then decided he didn't fancy it, then got the job again on a full time basis after Fletcher didn't work out. I just hope Danny Senda is a breath of fresh air.

Re: Matt Harrold
I like the big fella, but Biggsy is right. This is an absolute p*ss take and the club should feel ashamed at what it has done to Emma and others.
Would love to know who got given the green light to do this.

Re: Matt Harrold
One big happy family. It’s the orient way. That and losing. Good for Embleton and Ling though. They really have it sown up. Plenty of sackings before they need to step forward and accept any blame.
