Say something pessimistic about the O’s and it’s a win win.

If you’re wrong then the O’s do well so a win in the grand scheme of things.

If you’re right then the O’s do badly and you get to sneer at anybody who had the audacity to be optimistic about their team and it validates your sense of superior football nous.

Why can’t we all just have fun supporting a team which is top of the league (and has been for the majority of it)

Folks who claim to support a team but spend most of their time slagging it off, are, indeed hedging their bets. The ' I told you so' brigade like to have a foot in both camps so that, when the dust settles, they can always claim to have been right all along, whatever happens.
