Re: Vigaroux calls out McCoists thinly veiled racism
I actually agree with Ally McCoist.
Apart from football and Speedway, I've followed F1 for years. Whilst admiring his achievements as a class driver, it doesn't mean you have to like him as an individual.
F1 aside (where he's a whinger and not the best of sportsmen - including over the years to his so-called team mates); he's also a tax-dodger and an admirer of the Saudi Arabian Royal Family.
So I fully agree - there's quite a lot about Hamilton not to like.

If you don’t like someone who is black you are a racist. Vigouroux sounds like a bit of tw*t.

Re: Vigaroux calls out McCoists thinly veiled racism
As a driver is he is the best, maybe of all time. I talk to my son about him, we watch his go kart races and we talk about his F1 performances as he is an example of what it takes to go from the bottom to the top. He is an amazing driver, recently putting his car 1.2 seconds I think it was in front of 2nd place in the wet, a time difference not seen in something silly like 39 years or some such number. He went on to say it’s about belief in your ability, everyone has it if you beleive in yourself. Words I could not put better myself.
However, I’ve seen the other side to him, in the pit lane, back stage if you like and he has zero time for anyone. Maybe it’s because he’s so focussed, but these people pay the money that allow you to earn such huge sums and he was just plain rude. Swotting away request after request, maybe that’s a problem of fame that maybe you’ve had enough of that side of things? I don’t know, but I know I would give the people time cos without them you have zero product to sell or promote.
As a racer he’s the best, plus he likes a conspiracy as well !!!!!

You gave concise reasons as to why you dont like him .
Im not overly keen on him because of the Wimbledon tennis thing where
he thought he was above following royal box etiquette of wearing a tie .
Plus he seems to like a conspiracy theory
Alistair however left it open to interpretation
there was a little mention of living in America followed by i dont know if its that.

Re: Vigaroux calls out McCoists thinly veiled racism
Fantastic driver no doubt, and I agree that he doesn’t get the respect he probably deserves.
However somebody sent me a What’s App some weeks ago now making the point that Hamilton was very supportive of the BLM movement whilst being a tax exile living in Monaco and , Driving for Mercedes, a German car company associated with the Nazis , Allegedly.
I’m not saying I agree with the contents of the What’s App message, but they have a point.

Re: Vigaroux calls out McCoists thinly veiled racism
They have a point alright, and it’s a crap one. So what if he lives in Monaco? Does that mean he can’t offer his support to the BLM campaign? And Mecedes-Benz’s association with the ruling Nazi party at the time was just shy of 90 years ago, and things have moved on a bit since then, no?Cheshunto wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 9:00 pm Fantastic driver no doubt, and I agree that he doesn’t get the respect he probably deserves.

Re: Vigaroux calls out McCoists thinly veiled racism
I'm with the majority on this post so far, brilliant driver but not keen on him as a person, and it's nothing to do with skin colour.
Wish we could as a society reach the point where it's perfectly possible to criticise someone without race/ prejudice being the motive, it wouldn't even occur to me what someone's skin colour is in determining whether I like them or not, for it wouldn't influence it.

You have clarified what you don’t like about him, that’s fair enough.NuneatonO's wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 7:21 pm I actually agree with Ally McCoist.

Ally McCoist - or any of the other posters on this thread, for that matter - haven’t. They just don’t like him for some unknown reason....

I heard McCoist say that, and tbf can only think he didn't mention anything about racism to avoid stirring up a hornet's nest that he'd then have to sit on.

Well slavery was abolished before that and things moved on but it didn't stop statues being torn down recently.

Sometimes there does not need to be any particular reason, just a sum of the parts.RedO wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 9:13 pmYou have clarified what you don’t like about him, that’s fair enough.NuneatonO's wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 7:21 pm I actually agree with Ally McCoist.

The minute Hamiliton had a modicum of success, he said " I'm out of here, you can whistle for your tax", Mr nice guy?

I’m sure some people don’t like you fella. Is it because of your skin colour?RedO wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 9:13 pmYou have clarified what you don’t like about him, that’s fair enough.NuneatonO's wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 7:21 pm I actually agree with Ally McCoist.

Re: Vigaroux calls out McCoists thinly veiled racism
Clearly an excellent driver, but comes across (and it 'may' be the way he's pitched in the media I'm not sure, I've never met the bloke), as an utter tool.
Selfish, arrogant, tax-dodger.
Bangs the drum bemoaning lack of opportunities for blacks in F1 whilst sitting in his champagne bath with supermodels. He may be right (again, I've never worked in F1 so I can't say), but he just seems to have that innate ability to annoy people - he seems a bit of a pr!ck.
He says all this whilst sucking up to the Saudis - double standards. I'd 'like' to like him, but his ways make it very difficult.

Re: Vigaroux calls out McCoists thinly veiled racism
This. To assume it’s due to his race is unjustifiable in my opinion. There’s something about Kanye West I don’t like but it’s not his race. There’s also something about Roy Keane I don’t like but it’s also not his race. I can’t put my exact finger on either but it’s literally nothing to do with race for either person, but they’ve both been at the top of their profession.
Getting a bit bored of it now.
