Well first and foremost, do people really want to be educated about their weight, by a slobbering piece of blubber; that doesn't look as if he has ever missed a square meal during his entire lifetime?

Drivel as in not recognising that a major part of the problem is the availability of fast food; but Councils appear to be under no Govt. restrictions to stop the issue of food trading licences for pizza outlets, chicken shops, etc. High Streets and Town Centres across this land are full of these godforesaken places.

Drivel as in 'educating people' - really? Yeah, that's really going to work, isn't it. If people are so braindead that they'll pay to have a bloody McDonalds hamburger delivered in a Taxi, then what hope is there honestly of these people ever being 'educated'?

Drivel as in if you want healthier people (particularly youngsters) then ban 'energy drinks' and similar, that are full of sugar. Ban their sale immediately and get them off the shelves.

Get more P.E. back into schools. Educate kids into the benefits of joining football and rugby teams; engaging in more outdoor activities, etc.

A while ago, we got back from our evening two hour walk, before she goes off to work. We are blessed to have two beautiful lakes nearby. Apart from the occasional dog walker, we saw almost nobody. The UK appears to have become a very lazy nation of exercise-shy, unfit, people. Walking seems to be just too much of a challenge for people these days. I even see neighbours driving to the shops that are about a ten minute walk away.

Just to add that I'd be equally critical of this rhetoric, even if it was Labour spouting this nonsense. Actions speak louder than words; so instead of saying what you are going to do, take positive action NOW!

Fair point. However:

1. I would certainly not agree if National Service was made compulsory. It should still be a choice for individuals to make themselves.
2. Any service undertaken should be accompanied with a decent wage packet.
3. I wouldn't make it automatically a couple of years. Perhaps there could be either 12 or 24 Month options; depending upon the skills that an individual wanted to attain.
4. At no time should an individual be forced into engaging in warfare, if it is against their belief or desire to do so.

In one particular case, it was to an associate of Dominic Cummings and Michael Gove, and had nothing to do with the coronavirus emergency. As a result, there are legal challenges to the award.



They think that they are above the law

This is possibly your best post. I don’t think that they will win the case that they are taking on as the government will worm its way out using covid and eu law to win. I might be wrong. Still it’s immoral at the very least and all contracts should be open to tender and fairly offered to all.

As a result of the above I’m reading up on the Uber case which is very interesting indeed.

Do you remember when the virus first hit and Prime Minister Cummings decreed that we’d all have to hunker down? I do. Every time you put the tele on, the screen was full of poor sods in ICU, breathing tubes, ventilator machines, induced comas. Scared the stuff out of me, it did. Still does, of course and I’m sure it’s still happening. But, since he decided lock down was to be eased and we’d best get back to work, those images have largely vanished from our screens. Holidays abroad, air travel, ‘eat out to help out’ and all that stuff is portrayed as the new norm. “Virus? What Virus? After I get home on the train, I’m off down the King’s Head, then we can squeeze into the Viceroy of India for a late night Rogan Josh. Second Spike? What a load of tosh. I’m off to Benidorm.”

Also, isn’t this battle Mankind vs Plague? I believe so. So why are we so pleased to claim our testing system is “World Beating?” It’s not the World we’re trying to fight.

Now, we are told it’s very dangerous to bring people back from countries that have a higher level of infection than we do. “Guess that’s right… Don’t want to spread the virus, do we?” And yet, did we not encourage these very same people to travel to countries less heavily infected than UK? And with no quarantine arrangements. Is it not we who are contributing to the new spikes in tourist Spain that scare us so much?

Watch out for the spin, Boys… It wouldn’t surprise me soon to hear fat boy Boo-Boo telling us we’re all overweight!

Ok. I understand your feelings but the message itself is not drivel. It’s actually correct. But nothing new, we all know this stuff. What matters more is what positive action is taken to back up words. Positive action as you say.
