Re: Questions For Wednesdays Orient Hour 29th July with O's Boss Ross Embleton
Why did we unnecessarily prioritise extensions for the likes of Brill, Coulson and Ling ahead of deals for Ekpiteta and Sotiriou?
Had Ekpiteta said he would not be re-signing with Orient or were we just not able to agree a new contract?
Were you involved in recruiting Danny Senda?

Good questions to ask but will they be asked and if so, will they be answered ?Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 9:41 pm Why did we unnecessarily prioritise extensions for the likes of Brill, Coulson and Ling ahead of deals for Ekpiteta and Sotiriou?

Of course we will ask but the opening line is more of an opinion than a question so perhaps we will ask it minus the word 'unnecessarily'.

On the assumption that we will still need to sign a centre forward, (ie not Sotiriou) what sort of player is your ideal?

As to Dagenham players coming to play for Leyton Orient, well from from what I recall, the last highly rated Dagenham player to come to the Os was Sam Ling !

What makes you think we will finish any higher than last season, considering the squad is broadly the same, if not weaker than the one that ended last season?

Re: Questions For Wednesdays Orient Hour 29th July with O's Boss Ross Embleton
With the salary cap coming in this year, i believe the club should really target developing our youth team players and those that show most promise should have proffessional contracts offered more quickly.
I am 200% committed to seeing us develope our own talent, there is nothing better OR do you think we should begin a policy of picking up released youngsters and maybe scrapping the youth developement.
The youth development scheme could either be looked at financially as a positive or negative for the club.
I very much see it as a positive.

Now that Ross has Danny Senda as his Assistant how does this change his roll. Also what specific duties do Deen Brill, Alex Lawless and Jobi play in his managerial set up.

Will we be seeing the likes of Hector and Shadrach wanting to walk in 12/24 months when we’ve failed to give them sufficient opportunities in the first team squad?

Re: Questions For Wednesdays Orient Hour 29th July with O's Boss Ross Embleton
Excluding the word "unnecessarily" changes the context though. Renewals at that time for Coulson, Brill and Ling were premature given we didn't now how they would perform back in the League at that point. And at that stage the new deals were also unnecessary because those players had little to no resale value and were unlikely attract a large number of other interested teams if we waited until the end of the season. They were also more likely to agree new contracts if we wanted to keep them or we could move on from them and use their salary to upgrade if not.Andy Gilson wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 10:02 pm Of course we will ask but the opening line is more of an opinion than a question so perhaps we will ask it minus the word 'unnecessarily'.
Whereas Ekpiteta was a prime asset and Sotiriou one with a lot of potential, so negotiating new deals for those two were clearly more important priorities than players who would have been easily replaced.

But you're assuming the Couslon, Brill and Ling deals were prioritised over Ekpiteta and Sotiriou. We don't know that, they might just have been the easiest (as is most likely).
I agree with you on those three deals though, 100%. Just think you're being a bit unrealistic as to what a radio show can and should ask or how factual your/our opinion is.

Is Ross related to the Embleford family of Sutton Coldfield? Their ancestors were blacksmiths to George II, don't you know

Yes good call, I forgot Conor, but my mind was more focused on Sam Ling as at the time of his transfer he was talked up as a supposedly highly rated defensive Dagenham playerSmendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 11:04 pmConor Wilkinson?Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 10:27 pmWho is that ?Top of the JES wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 10:10 pm Talking to any centre halfs, Is the lad from Dagenham on our radar?

Re: Questions For Wednesdays Orient Hour 29th July with O's Boss Ross Embleton
What I mean is that we should have looked to agree deals for the prime and developing players prior to the others so that we could make better offers and retain these assets. If it took a while to get done then there would have been no harm in Coulson, Brill and Ling waiting til March/end of season - in fact, it would have been beneficial for us had we done this even if Covid-19 hadn't hit because a) they'd be playing for a new contract and b) we could decide not to renew if we felt we needed to move on from players of that age/quality (which in the case of Brill and Coulson we almost certainly would have).PoliticOs wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 11:15 am But you're assuming the Couslon, Brill and Ling deals were prioritised over Ekpiteta and Sotiriou. Ok, another question.
Martin Ling said Sotiriou has been turning down contracts since November. How many offers did we make to him, and what did he/his advisers say was the rationale behind him rejecting these offers?

I notice a little typo above, can you see it ? We all do it, especially easy to do when typing on small smart phones !

Very rare for you to make spelling mistakes, unlike some on this forum who do it so often that I often wonder if they do it as a bit of attention seeking !

I totally get you, just not sure it's an either or scenario. I disagree with those deals too, I just don't think they stopped or impeded the Sotiriou/Epiteta talks at all.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 11:25 amWhat I mean is that we should have looked to agree deals for the prime and developing players prior to the others so that we could make better offers and retain these assets.
