Re: Manny Onariase
hope we take a shot at someone like this as a backup CB. Marv was a risk and paid off so hopefully this does, if we get him.

Re: Manny Onariase
Would be pretty much a like for like replacement for Big Marv. Seen him at least twice from memory, he reads the game well has a fair turn of pace and is OK on the ball. Only seen him at centre back looks a bit on the large side to play right back.
Would not mind this at all.

Re: Manny Onariase
He's impressed me each time I've seen him play, would be happy with this if it happened.

Ironic that the photograph in the article is captioned “ injury concern for Emmanuel Onariase”!

Re: Manny Onariase
I don't remember him but he's cheap and local, so fits the bill.
He's no kid though - almost 24, so not much chance of 'developing' him further. Presumably Happe and Turley (if fit) are first choice, so seems a fair addition as cover.

Re: Manny Onariase
Is this not why we have coaches - we have enough of them
To nurture, guide , train and develope on young eager talent
This is the type of player the scouts should be looking at combined with the loan market and the under 23 players
Said it before there are hundreds of players to tap into, just get that tap running

Re: Manny Onariase
I asked my Dagenham supporting mate at work what he thought of him and he told me he's a good player. Also he's now currently a free agent .

Re: Manny Onariase
He is 34. Not that surprising he has dropped down the leagues.
Would say he's had a good career for someone who came through at a league two team: 3 or 4 seasons in the Championship with the rest at League One level until he's got too old.

Re: Manny Onariase
He would have done even better if he had been able to pass the ball. Terrifically quick defender though in his prime.

Re: Manny Onariase
I am sure we will get in somebody decent in defence. Not worried there. My concern is what sort of centre forward we will sign.

Re: Manny Onariase
Yep! And nearly 30 caps for DR Congo, 4 promotions including from the Championship. Had a great career! I never saw it when he was a kid to be honest.

Re: Manny Onariase
I agree because Ruel is as good as gone. I reckon it’s looking likely we’ll get Onariase. So with him being a free agent I hope there’s enough money left over to go out and bring in a decent striker. In other words a signing that would make a weavering season ticket holder want to go out and renew his ticket

Re: Manny Onariase
Just made me think if only we had someone with a value on his head we may have had a few hundred grand in the bank that could have funded a new decent striker.
