Re: Villa
Well done Deano.
Heard a lot of Villa fans have been unhappy with him, so glad he has stuck that in their face. That said they were wanting him replaced even if they stayed up as they see him as a poor manager at Premier League level.

Re: Villa
Congrats Deano and also to Villa owners for sticking by him. Contrast to Watford and I think justice was done.

Avoiding promotion by a point is relatively good, isn't it?BiggsyMalone wrote: βSun Jul 26, 2020 7:35 pm They avoided promotion by a point after being sh*t all year. Iβm happy for Dean Smith but itβs nothing to congratulate him on
Probably better than we'll do next Season!

Re: Villa
He took them up when no one expected that to happen, that suggests the team wasnβt ready for the next level just yet however, he did it. He then had to virtually bring in a new team on a budget and get them enough points to stay up. He did that, he also got them to the cup final, thatβs success if you ask me.
What happens next is how he will be judged, how good will his buys be? How he will transition them to avoid second year syndrome and how he will move them forwards and establish them as a regular premier league side. Thatβs the challenge for him now, but as a pre season target to stay in that league and get them to the final could be classed as a good season for them, the bar now gets raised.

Re: Villa
Same as everyone else has said, i would like to congratulate Dean on keeping Villa in the Premier league. I am sure his family will be filled with pride and that includes his dad as well.
Football can be a cut throat buisiness and i just hope he gets the chance to carry on as manager at Villa next season.

Re: Villa
On purely football reasons, I think villa were dead lucky to stay up. They are really poor. Bournemouth are IMO much the better team, but were crucified by injuries early in the season.
Unless Villa strengthen massively, in the short close season, they are certs for the drop next season, particularly as they will probably lose their one class player to bigger & better things.
As an aside, it feels so weird to have the last weekend of the Premier League in the last few days of July, and the FA cup final in August!!!

There are so many bad thing in life and football, you have to grab any opportunity to be happy and celebrate.
