Formation for next season

Post by MalvoliO »

I'd return to wingbacks if/when the season starts again:
Vigoroux
Turley Coulson Happe
Judd Brophy
Cisse McAnuff
Wright
Johnson Angol

Use JMD, Wilkinson and Dennis as impact subs.

With the current squad, do we have the players for any other formation? :?:

442 or 433. Jmd and Brophy must both start.

4-1-3-2

Vigoroux
New Signing Turley Happe Ogie
Cisse
JMD McAnuff Brophy
New Signing Angol

Proper right back, Ogie hopefully shows quality before season starts and new striker up front.

New RB Turley Happe Widdowson
...............Cisse

JMD..........Angol.........Brophy

Would be happy to give Ogie a good run at LB and one of the younguns a run in midfield too.

452 should never been seen again, it's a f*cking disaster. Brophy should not be played in the hole.

I think the 12th man is a definite plus for shoring up the midfield ;)

A lot will depend on what kind of striker we sign but think it'll be 4-3-3 with an option to go 4-4-2 now we have Cissé secured.

Vigoroux

RB Turley Happe Brophy

Cissé
McAnuff Clay

JMD Johnson Wilkinson

The Brophy conundrum is an interesting one, if a new RB comes in who's solid (Whing / Cuthbert type) then having an attacking LB with pace is a decent option. Might get sussed out quickly though in which case Widdowson returns for solidity.

I'm CM Cissé solves the biggest problem and allows Clay to play with a bit more freedom. He looked so much better with Ouss doing the holding work. McAnuff adds some craft then Wright can challenge them for a starting spot.

Upfront the hardest bit, management sound happy with Johnson poaching goals so it's how you get the ball in those places for him. JMD is our best crosser of the ball and Wilkinson wants to play on the right, was getting a bit of confidence up before his injury problems so worth a go again.

The new striker could give us another option if we get someone with a physical presence. Think you'd see a much better performance from Angol alongside a strike partner which would give us another option.

I think Brophy is completely wasted at LB. i understand why people like him there but I love seeing him attack full backs, cutting left and right. I know his final ball is inconsistent but his directness and pace should be harnessed.

I think we need to utilise the pincer movement more often for guaranteed success.

4-5-2 could be a winner.

Agreed with Brophy. His main attribute is obviously his pace and doesn’t get used in the central, congested areas. Also agree with Hector, he needs PROPER involvement in our squad this coming g season so he’s not the next one that wants away.

I love teams with attacking full backs or wing backs depending on the system.

But that rules our Ling who can’t attack or defend with any quality and I am pretty sure that won’t happen anyway. And i doubt Brophy will replace Widdowson, who is the better defender but not much going forward.

Those two with Turley and Happe are our likely back four.

Wright Clay Cisse and Jobi will form the mainstay in the middle

Johnson and Wilko up front.

Ross has plenty of options to switch things around too. Can’t see Jobi doing the full 90 and a fresh Brophy against tired defenders could work well. I expect a decent amount of squad rotation giving JMD, Dennis, Angol getting a decent amount of game time. Coulson will be cover, can’t see him figuring much. And of course we can expect ano too.

Get the old venables Xmas tree formation out the cupboard.

4-3-2-1

We’d rip teams to shreds with that.

We need to have the ability to change systems quickly &
Easily to enable us to beat what we will face.

5 subs means we will be in a position to completely change a game

We haven’t got anyone to do the solo job up front.

Ruel could have, as it happens.

5’ 7” Ruel with ten league games under his belt would be a sole striker for a L2 team? Dream on.

I think if we go with a 5-5-5 formation, we could be in with a shout for promotion
