I’ve been scouring the footage at the start when the gantry scans up to the fat fryer and back down again but can’t make us out.

Re: Scarborough 1989 play offs
In keeping with the original fixture, the kick off has been delayed, albeit not for traffic congestion but due to slow upload speeds!
It will be on soon fella....

Re: Scarborough 1989 play offs
Many thanks lordgriff - superb couple of games to re-live.
That was literally a backs to the wall job for 90 minutes.
M.O.M. over both games for me had to be Scarborough's Alan Kamara. What a full-on, 100% grafter!
Just as an aside, how strange to see so many back passes to keepers. Another thing I noticed (over both legs) was the minimal amount of additional time added at the end of each half. These days, refs seem to use +2 minutes as their starting point!

Re: Scarborough 1989 play offs
Yep agree about Kamara he kept Comfort pretty quite over two legs. Thought Dickinson was man of the match at Scarborough still frayed my nerves watching it back. Thanks Lord Griff.NuneatonO's wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 10:06 pm Many thanks lordgriff - superb couple of games to re-live.

Probably 600-700 3 or 4 coach loads, and lots of cars zipping up the A1.

The lack of extra time is hardly surprising. There was no stoppage time, it’s totally different to the modern game. Have a look back and after each goal, kick off happens within 20 seconds of the ball hitting the net. Even when we went 1-0 down in the second leg and were hanging on for dear life.

Re: Scarborough 1989 play offs
Indeed , for some reason i thought Healdy
had a blinder of a game , shows you what
30+ years of memory really is like .
Probably clouded by the save at the very end .
Still roll on the final & wreck-ham !

Over both games, there was a man down on three occasions for at least +1 minute. There were also substitutions and goals. I think the most that any of the four halves (over both games) had added for around 50 seconds.

Re: Scarborough 1989 play offs
I was really surprised at the lack of deliberate time wasting from the O's.
The game has changed so much, we would have been taking an age over the goal kicks and throw ins, but we just got on with them.
Whilst we were lucky in the 2nd leg, we could easily have won the first match 3 or 4 nil, so I think we deserved to go through in the end.
