Cant believe it's 31 years since Laurie passed highlights how the years pass so quickly.
I still rate him the best footballer to ever wear the O's shirt, think of your favourite Orient player mine is Kitch and then remember Laurie was in a different league.

Re: 31 years ago today
He was the best player I've seen play for #ourclub.
Sometimes in life you wonder why things happen, and his life ending so early would be one of those. He will forever be remembered as the first black person to be selected to play for England, now that's a proper and fitting part of history to be remembered by. A man who broke the barrier for others to follow.

Without any doubt the greatest O's player I've ever seen. I feel lucky to have seen him, one of the benefits of being an old fart! RIP Laurie.

Was there any better? The reason I went to see Orient. I remember on a few occasions being on the 236 back to Dalston and he was all everyone spoke about.Andy Gilson wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 1:28 pm One of our greatest ever players passed away

Re: 31 years ago today
Recall seeing what I believe was his first league goal, final match of the 74-75 season at home to Southampton.
We’d gone behind, pulled it level, and someone gave him the ball on the half-way line. Laurie simply ran away from the defence before cooly slotting home to give us the 2-1 win, Coronation Gardens end. He was clearly something special.
