RIP Laurie.

Cant believe it's 31 years since Laurie passed highlights how the years pass so quickly.
I still rate him the best footballer to ever wear the O's shirt, think of your favourite Orient player mine is Kitch and then remember Laurie was in a different league.

Sometimes in life you wonder why things happen, and his life ending so early would be one of those. He will forever be remembered as the first black person to be selected to play for England, now that's a proper and fitting part of history to be remembered by. Was there any better? The reason I went to see Orient. I remember on a few occasions being on the 236 back to Dalston and he was all everyone spoke about.

Someone i know was in the Northern Ireland team that day & said he was class .

Beats me why Petchey used to get Laurie to drive that bus back after the games

Recall seeing what I believe was his first league goal, final match of the 74-75 season at home to Southampton.

We’d gone behind, pulled it level, and someone gave him the ball on the half-way line. Laurie simply ran away from the defence before cooly slotting home to give us the 2-1 win, Coronation Gardens end. He was clearly something special.
