Re: Mark Byrne
If this rumour is true along with the Anthony Wordsworth rumour , how many midfielders do we need ?

Re: Mark Byrne
Ideally two to come in but that won’t happen. It’ll be one. Doubt it will be Cisse but maybe we can do better.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 11:48 am If this rumour is true along with the Anthony Wordsworth rumour , how many midfielders do we need ?

Re: Mark Byrne
Byrne was released by Gillingham “ after an injury stricken 2019- 20 season” according to Wikipedia! Sound familiar?

Re: Mark Byrne
Byrne would be a crowd favourite, really neat player with a decent shot on him. Fans loved him at Newport County.
31/32 years isn't old players should be in their prime.

Re: Mark Byrne
Very clever by EFL hub. They know how gullible our fans are and have clearly done their research into what gets the hot under the collar.
Have they ever been right about a player linked with Orient? Can't recall any at all.

Re: Mark Byrne
Also Player of the Year at Gillingham a couple of years back. My biggest concern would be “ injury stricken 2019/20 season” tbh.Top of the JES wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 1:11 pm Byrne would be a crowd favourite, really neat player with a decent shot on him. Fans loved him at Newport County.

Why buy old players for already have josh wright a experienced CM and Craig Clay this signing would block the development of Hector Kyprianou who should get more of a chance

Re: Mark Byrne
I don't think they have ever posted anything correct about the Os, and probably any other club. At least these two are feasible options which many of the names usually touted are not. Best to treat it as a bit of fun while we wait to sign 37 year old Gary Roberts from Wigan once he's had a fitting for his new Zimmer frame.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 1:13 pm Very clever by EFL hub. Just as an aside Peterborough United chairman Darragh McAntony was asked about the sale of star striker Ivan Toney after the club rejected a bid from Brighton yesterday. After saying the bid wasn't enough money he went on to confirm that they have a striker lined up and ready to sign as a fourth striker.
Despite there being about 400 strikers available for some Os fans this will be clear evidence that it will be Soitirou.

Re: Mark Byrne
Couldn't agree more, he will be shipped off to Dover in October and then refuse a new contract next season, we never fully invest in our younger players.Lofctillwedie wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 1:33 pm Why buy old players for already have josh wright a experienced CM and Craig Clay this signing would block the development of Hector Kyprianou who should get more of a chance

Re: Mark Byrne
I have nothing against Byrne or Wordsworth but i hope we are not going down the road of too many players of a similar style vying for two midfield positions. Like most people have said a "Cisse" type ball winner to supplement what we already have is priority.
You can just see a similar situation next season, team struggles young player thrown in (Hector?) does quite well but end of season he moves on.
Why have our home grown players always got to be fourth or fifth in line for a team spot?
If you dont have confidence in them, i know "timing", then dont give them pro contract.
2/3 defenders, strong midfielder and striker job done
