Fans in Grounds.
The EFL are to work at both Charlton Athletic and Cambridge United with crowd dynamics specialists Movement Strategies, aim is to work out a safe way of getting crowds back into (and out of) EFL grounds and to work out what % of capacity is deemed safe to accomodate sociallty distanced attendances.
Positive signs that football may resume in September/October with at least some fans in grounds.

Re: Fans in Grounds.
Just got to come up with a "fair" way of deciding which fans get in.
How many ST holders at the Orient ? about 3,000 or more ? so if the capacity gets cut to, say, 2,000 for social distancing (for example) - how does the club choose who gets in?

If this virus continues unabated, the prospects are grim for the future of all types of sports and many other things that we have taken for granted in life and it will not be just in the Uk, most countries the world over will be affected, followed by long term mass unemployment and poverty worldwide.

There are many people who seemingly dont understand the seriousness of this virus. while the government is opening up the country, the number of infections is getting higher.
They'll be no football or anything else soon, unless the virus subsides rapidly

Have to agree, those over 50 should still be adhering to the original lockdown rules given the risks

Re: Fans in Grounds.
Play at West ham , arsenal , tottenham or Wembley for one season. Needs must. Would rather that and everyone get in than play at Brisbane Road where only 1-2,000 would be allowed in.
But when has logic played a part in football or any of its decisions...

Re: Fans in Grounds.
The PL clubs won't let the likes of Orient use their grounds for free. Not while:-
they are using the grounds for their own games
their own supporters will be unable to watch games at the ground.
West Ham don't own their ground.
It would also probably cost Orient more to hire the ground than they would receive back in income.

Re: Fans in Grounds.
Well those under 50 can still catch this disease and die as a result, also even if they do not die or suffer too much, infected under 50s can ( especially if they are unaware they have the virus ) go around spreading the virus to those of all ages who they come into contact with. Also, if all over 50s were not allowed to be admitted to football games, especially in the case of Leyton Orient, it would drastically cut down on the crowds watching the matches. I do not know what the answer is. Long term we have to hope the virus burns itself out, or vaccines and medicines are developed that can cure people infected with it. This is a really serious business and in fact could wipe out many businesses worldwide, cause mass unemployment, bring governments down and coming back to all things sport related, will really disrupt all sporting events for a very long time, leading of course to many football clubs going out of business.

Re: Fans in Grounds.
bit of a stupid thing to say.....people over 50 arent more liable to get the virus, than any other age group.Digby Chicken Caesar wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2020 9:54 am Have to agree, those over 50 should still be adhering to the original lockdown rules given the risks
If they get it, they are more liable to have a bad time with it
If the general population behaved during Covid, like over 60's have, they'd be far less chance of a second spike, because generally its younger people who cram into pubs and other places, spreading the disease

Re: Fans in Grounds.
Most of the under 50s are the ghost kids in the North Stand. Where I sit in the East Stand, pretty much everyone is over 50. And those that are under 50 are often accompanied by an over 50. The remaining under 50s are the ones with the complimentary tickets.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2020 10:08 am Also, if all over 50s were not allowed to be admitted to football games, especially in the case of Leyton Orient, it would drastically cut down on the crowds watching the matches.

Therefore isn't it an ideal time for the so called 'football family' step up to help teams further down the pyramid rather than see them die. Or is that just a load of pretend b******s after all??
Surely its for the good of everyone to help out. Likewise Orient could help out teams in the conference with the use of Brisbane road and so on & so on.
It doesn't take much imagination and different thinking to get EVERYONE through this current crisis or are you saying the EFL / PL / bigger clubs don't give a flying **** about ALL the teams in their organisation/pyramid...... ?????

Re: Fans in Grounds.
Agreed. Orient are a bit of an exception in that they are within an hour of 5 of the biggest stadiums in the country, some league 1/league 2 clubs wouldn’t have access to a large stadium, or there would be a large number of them competing to play at the same large stadium. But with a bit of will power it could be done.kokomO wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2020 10:15 amOrnchurch wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2020 10:03 amThe PL clubs won't let the likes of Orient use their grounds for free. Not sure why the government are happy for groups of people to sit outside and inside pubs and restaurants but not a few thousand a few seats apart. Not that I agree with the non policy but there’s one rule for some things and one for others

Re: Fans in Grounds.
The way the media are talking up second wave it'll happen whether as Covid itself or usual autumn / winter sniffles turning into mass panic.
Unpopular opinion... you won't see crowds for 20-21 at all and streaming / TV becomes the standard. Once clubs realise how much revenue they can generate from those big canvas ads shown to captive audience of millions they might not even want the fans back.

Re: Fans in Grounds.
I will not be returning to grounds once allowed. As someone advised to shelter I will not be risking travelling on public transport and sitting in grounds with people I don't know. I will only be joining environments that I trust and I am sure that many others will be the same.
How will football clubs respect that though? Spurs have told ST holders that if they do not make a 20% non refundable deposit/payment towards their seat by the end of August they will lose it. Not fair but do they care as they think they have a queue of people waiting to buy.

The infection rate isn't getting higher COYOs, the numbers go up and down depending how many tests are carried out, when you work out the % of positive cases against test being carried out the virus is still shrinking slowly.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2020 9:40 am100% agreeSid Bishop wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2020 1:01 am If this virus continues unabated, the prospects are grim for the future of all types of sports and many other things that we have taken for granted in life and it will not be just in the Uk, most countries the world over will be affected, followed by long term mass unemployment and poverty worldwide.

Re: Fans in Grounds.
That's not a reason to say that we can't though is it. Your view means because some can't it means everyone shouldn't... For one season I don't see why that should stop clubs like Orient trying to survive. And also, it doesn't have to be big premiership grounds. Take Forest Green as an example there's no reason they couldnt safely take 4,000 at Ashton gate Bristol and all safely , 'socially distance' is there?Ornchurch wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2020 10:33 amYou're just looking at Orient.
