Who can seriously forget Oxford?

As for his appointment as Director of Football, let's be honest here. Who really knows what he has delivered; or will subsequently bring to the party over the coming months/years?

The fact that (I would guess) the majority of us actually know sod all what his actual contrbution to the club is, speaks volumes in my opinion.

'Director of Football'..........seriously?

Let's be either honest with ourselves, or alternatively just give up. We're still a Two Bob London Club looking to get out of a Half a Crown Division. Shouldn't money be spent on decent players; rather than a bloke in a suit and a tie?
I can see why the new owners brought in a Director of football for the first season or so, a time when we had only a youth team on the books and no manager, yes a massive influx of players, coaching staff and a new manager was needed in double quick time then, but now that time has passed, any recruitment needed is down to a trickle, so IMO the job could be done on a part time basis, if needed at all ?

Precisely Sid.

As I said, we're a two-bob team scratching around in the bottom tier of the English League.

'Director of Football'? Seriously?

It just smacks of someone owning a Chauffer-driven Lada.

Ling was needed in that first season and did an alright job so late in the day. He’s not stupid - I’m not so sure his love of Ross and his constant convincing, despite Ross saying he didn’t want to be manager, points to someone securing their job. If we had an experienced manager, Ling’s job would be surplus to requirements imo. The fact we have an inexperienced one means he can shout about his worth to the board...

It would be interesting to see Ling's Job Description. I suspect it consists of a lot more than most of us imagine.

The owners justify a DOF because they live in the USA, and they say, they need someone running the football side for them.
The CEO is more than capable of running the club, whilst the owners are away, and a 'proper' football manager will run the football side.
Cant ever see the owners getting rid of Ling though. From the way they talk about him, they think he walks on water

The money should be spent on a decent manager - that’s the most important position at 5e club by far.

But given we have nothing else to debate and argue over, perhaps is it useful.
Mr Gilson has now updated his position in that it was Mr Tongue who asked whether they were going to talk about the Assistant Manager position. Confused? I am.
He has also since stated that the club is down to the final three candidates from an initial list of 8. You can bet your bottom dollar calderwood is in the frame.

Lada Riva, a much maligned car ( especially by Clarkson, mainly because it was so cheap to buy and also because it came from Russia ! ) that was introduced in 1970 as a modified license copy of the Fiat 124. If properly looked after and maintained it was a cheap, basic but reliable car. Friend of mine had one, it had a non interference engine, meaning that if the timing belt broke, it did not bend the cylinder head valves or hit the pistons thus ending up with an expensive repair bill or scrap engine as happened to many other cars. His car came new with a massive tool kit, he used this Lada for many years with hardly any problems.

At least he's not on here "pretending" to be racist because he thinks it's funny. Small mercies.
Happy days.
