Superb show. Well done and many thanks.
Loved the Tommy Taylor story.
Also, looked up Clapton Stadium. Very few pictures available but looked just a tad impressive!

Cheers Nuneaton.
I couldn't repeat the expletives on air that Tommy shouted down the phone
He was fine next day tbf.
Steve Castle is a good guest and he really loves Orient, it's in his DNA.

Re: Recording of The Orient Hour July 8th with Steve Castle
I was born in Hackney and moved to the area of Clapton E.5 when i was four years of age until moving to Essex in my forties.
I live directly opposite the stadium in a council estate this was in the sixties and the stadium was the focal point of the area. At that time it was only used for greyhound racing. The stadium was a large arena with the main stand and terraces part seated/part covered and the boundary walls were very high. It also had a multy story car park in one corner and right beside it was Millfields park.
On race night there was always a buzz in the area and crowds of around 3,000 would attend. On a side note me and my mates would look/keep a eye on punters cars and they would normally pay us after the meeting around one shilling, two bob or if they won maybe we would be rich with Β£1. Two of our regulars were Sir Alf Ramseys brother and former Leyton Orient striker Harry Gregory after a game at Brisbane road on a Saturday.
Great days and great memories, fantastic stadium.

Really good show, but the agent talk has to be over for now. We know your views (and, I agree).
And, I have said if before; Peter Taylor for the assistant managers job.

Andy, I listened in. Can you reveal more info as to where the assistant manager idea came from?

Ok what made you discuss it on the show then? As nothing was being said anywhere at this time. What have you heard then?

Re: Recording of The Orient Hour July 8th with Steve Castle
OK.
We didn't just discuss the asst manager vacancy for fun or to kill air time. One of our regular hosts
Steve Tongue, who is a much respected author and journo (BBC, LBC, The Independent) asked if we were going to discuss the vacancy on this weeks Orient Hour, tbh I have been busy on other things and hadn't been aware of this. However we then had a well connected source inform us that they were down to a last 3 from an initial 8 suitable candidates.
We don't just 'make things up' for the sake of it. Obviously we did speculate as to who those three may be, which is why we mentioned Jobi, Maclean and Lawless. It could be none of those. But we shall find out in due course.

Re: Recording of The Orient Hour July 8th with Steve Castle
Thank you Andy, that's why i was asking. Last season it was mentioned about such a role then it went all quiet and suddenly up it pops on your show. So there was substance to the discussion hence my question.Andy Gilson wrote: βFri Jul 10, 2020 7:48 pm OK.

Now do tell us all what you have heard who are the last three. Cheers.

Thor, I haven't the faintest idea who the last 3 are, I really haven't. But we will find out who it is soon.

Re: Recording of The Orient Hour July 8th with Steve Castle
Thanks KC, great reviews so far. Always nice to hear people enjoyed it. Tbf Steve C is a good lad and Jenks and Victor on the Orient Trail is interesting stuff. We have been helped by some good people in these difficult times that makes putting the show together a lot easier than it would have otherwise have been.

Not convinced that we need an assistant head coach but if the Directors see a need, who am I to question it.

Re: Recording of The Orient Hour July 8th with Steve Castle
agreed duvb what we need is an experienced head coach / manager.
Surely ling is there to cover off that role is he not? As Head of football and an ex manager himself then the logical thing is Ross speaks to him however, I see it as a way of blaming the assistant rather than the dof or head coach. Time will tell if I'm right.
