Re: Sotiriou
He's got a pretty good chance of first team football at a stable club. He can then prove himself at lg2 level and progress higher like Bonne did.

For all we know Sterling might have been better. I wouldn’t mind getting him back on loan next season especially if Ruel leavesMightynewsman wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 3:53 pm The simple answer is this if you are Ruel why would you stay at Orient? And if you do how long for? Will he progress with Us will he even be given the chance if he has a bad run will he be dropped and then not given a chance in favour of another player or loan player? And also people forget Sterling game in last season who was unfit you just wonder had he of been fit would he have played instead of Ruel?

Mason GreenwoodAckneyAwks wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 3:03 pm Two clubs from completely different parallels of the universe one Manchester United the other Leyton Orient. United have a young talented forward Mason Greenwood come through the youth system and after showing outstanding ability and this season scoring goals not too far short of regular first teamers Martial and Rashford they get him signed up on a new improved contract. Because they are paying weekly wages of six figures he falls short of the top earners. They saw a talent and rewarded it.
The other club Leyton Orient develop a young striker who maybe did not show the obvious same early ability but as he matured he showed last season some obvious improvement in the qualities of a lower league striker self belief, confidence in himself, pace and a rarity at a club like the Orient, goals!. The people who decide contracts at the club should have seen this immediately and improved his wages instantly. Ruel at a guess was probably on a wage of around lets say £500 per week, at that time with what he was showing i cant believe a pay increase to around £3,000 per week would have been turned down. If you weigh that up with our two regular forwards who were probably on two or three times more than Ruel but scoring fewer goals. Let's say he had accepted the new 2/3 year contract we all know the way things work out in lower league football, if he carried on scoring goals at the same rate he would have been sold for a figure of minimum £500,000 but probably quite a lot more and that would have been inside 12 months.
Instead we now face the likely prospect of losing him for nothing, a really costly error for a club of our size and before anyone shouts "Pay Cut", this should have been done long before the virus break in football.
I know you cant compare United with Orient on almost anything but it's the similar scenarios of the two and we as a club could be found wanting. Hopefully Ruel does sign for us but things dont look very good at the moment.
What i would like to see is a little more positivety with pushing our exciting youth players forward when we develope them if not what would be the point of youth developement at Leyton Orient and that is from someone who is 200% in favour of it continuing.
17 goals in 21 apps 2018 u18 premier league

Tuffers...Hardly a fair comparison!
i think i said that in my opening two lines and then you roll out all the historical statistics of both clubs, you did not really need to do that did you.
My whole point was that i think Ruel is probably the clubs biggest assett and the club should have acted quicker with new contract. 7+3 apps 5 goals i make that 1 in 2 not bad for youngster in struggling team.

9 goals in 12 games are incredible figures . ( dover & back to us)
8 goals in 22 games (pre dover)
at a very low level isnt much to be pulling up trees.
Its not bad but its not stardom here i come .
Again lots of people saying you could just tell
No i dont think you can .

Re: Sotiriou
You could be right but the clue is in the title "Management" they have to make decisions based on thier judgement. My argument is he is probably the biggest financial assett to "Little old Leyton Orient" and if he walks for nothing then we have lost out on hundreds of thousands of pounds. Nigel and Kent wont be pleased

He has shown potential in a small number of games
He has NOT done it for a WHOLE SEASON .
Potential yes I agree ,
But 3 k a week for POTENTIAL ?
You're having a laugh fella.

Re: Sotiriou
Someone saying pay him £3k a week for a young player, not yet proven at this level over a whole season. That's bullshitti territory and we all know how that worked out.
If you wanted a realistic number I'd say it would be £1,500 tops and that's absolute tops including bonus.

Re: Sotiriou
Hi Thor just a few of questions.
Who do you think is the best paid and what would you think they are on?
How much do you think Angol and Wilkinson are on and they only signed last summer.
What player presently would fetch biggest transfer fee?

None of the others - Harold excluded - have any sort of track record at all.
He had a bigger impact on games than any other striker at the club last season. I’m also pretty sure none of them scored more goals than him either, even though he didn’t get brought into the squad until December/January.
Of course he is worth the same wage as Angol and Wilkinson right now.
You're usually one of the more sensible football posters on here, please stop overreacting.
Wilko had started 56 league games and scored 13 league goals before coming here.
Neither are experienced or have any sort of a track record.
He’s played a dozen games...

I cannot believe how so many on here are going overboard over a young man who has played a handful of games and scored a few goals. A quarter of a season and he is worth £150K? Is he another Rooney? Or Owen? It’s madness.

So any young player that reaches the first team shows promise we as a club dont offer them a contract which they would sign. Remember thier agent will know the going rate at the club and what his client is worth.
Conclusion...Scrap the youth development as it's worthless!!...and i have always and still do love home grown talent.

Which is why I’m only saying he should be on a par with them, not miles ahead like some loons. Yes he has a bit less experience but also yes, he has a shed load more potential. He’ll clearly play at a higher level than either of them will.
The only reason I’ve been going on about their lack of track record is because some are making out they’re wily old seasoned pros, when they’re nothing of the sort. Both have had stop start careers with issues and we’ve taken a bit of a gamble on both of them. Just as we would be that Ruel continues to progress as he has.

No, A Rooney or Owen would go for 10mill. 150k is perfectly reasonable, Sancho went for 8 mill having never played a game, and there are loads of weaker prem players who have moved for millions having barely played a first team game.

You misunderstand - some clowns have been suggesting paying him £3k a week to get him to sign, that's where the £150k figure has come from.
