Good luck Marv.
I for one, will be glad i dont have to see those huge feet
look like there struggling to keep up with those skinny legs as he runs , threatening to turn under & break 1 or both of his legs .

Re: Marvin Signs for Blackpool
Giving it more thought. He’s been shifted to fullback a lot. He’s been played on the right side of a 3 a lot and had to CONSTANTLY cover Sam Ling who decides to bomb forward and leave himself out of position and doesn’t even attempt to get back. The defence went backwards this season too. He’s done the right thing to leave. The footballing side of things at the club is an absolute shambles.
I’d bet Dan Happe will leave this summer too. There’s absolutely nothing positive about the club apart from Brophy, Happe and the fact Bechetti has f*cked off.

Re: Marvin Signs for Blackpool
Him going elsewhere has been expected and its clear Orient tried hard over a long time to keep him. But he has the potential to play at a higher level so why should he not try. Sensible move for him.
Wish him well. Thanks for what he has done for us. Certainly repaid the club for the chance we gave him, and more. He owes us nothing.

By no means the finished article but he has earned a chance to further his career with a club at higher level. Just a shame we get no financial benefit out of it.

I wish him well but lets not forget his poor performances were very poor eg away to Macclesfield and home to Salford.

Good players have stinkers. It happens. Much the same as poor players who have blinders. Overall he has done enough to suggest a chance at a higher level is on.

Happe would have been in an awkward position last year. He's much younger than Marv so can't just leave on a free (correct me if I'm wrong) and would have been on an absolute pittance. It made sense for him to take the increased money at that time. I will be absolutely amazed if he extends beyond 2021, therefore totally expect him to be flogged off in January.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 2:07 pm Giving it more thought. I’m surprised he is still here tbh. But January, a possibility.RedO wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 4:54 pmHappe would have been in an awkward position last year. Re: Marvin Signs for Blackpool
His downturn in form this season was largely down to the inferior coaching the team was receiving. Even so, he generated a lot of interest from L1 this season, and I think the somewhat tart reaction from a number of our fans rather confirms that they know he was right to leave.
I'm disappointed to see him leave too, but he ain't daft - he can see the club won't be progressing much with the current management team, so why stick around?

Re: Marvin Signs for Blackpool
Biggesy the defence going backwards has to be placed at the feet of embleton. He ain’t got it and he won’t ever have it.
Losing Marv is down to Ling in not convincing him he can progress with us and grow with us.
Yesterday I suggested he was pissed at the lack of public support from the club over his court case, I do feel that had a part to play in his decision making.
I truly beleive he is capable of playing in the championship and I wish him all the best for the future. We had a proper gem on our hands and we let it slip through our fingers.
Now please hurry up and confirm that Ruel has left the club, then let the meltdown commence.

Did you think Bonne going to Charlton was Ling's fault too? Alzate to Brighton? Sometimes someone has a job and gets offered more money to do that job in a better office, in a cheaper to live area, for a bigger company. That is just it.

Re: Marvin Signs for Blackpool
Is it always about money?
If an Orient player was offered £1500 a week at the O's, but another club up north, offered £1800 a week, would the player automatically go for the money.
Wouldn't the fact he could stay 'local' have some bearing....that his kids wouldnt have to change schools, that he would still be close to family.....mum and dad, brothers and sisters etc.
Surely other factors have some bearing..........it isnt all about money........is it?

Last season will not have been fun for any of the players. Embleton in and out, Fletcher showing up and being rejected, whatever went on with Webb. And now Embleton and Brill as the management team going forward.
I can’t see anyone with options wanting to hang about, nor can i see us being able to attract the quality players we need with this set up.

Re: Marvin Signs for Blackpool
No not always, though £1800pw up north goes way further than £1500pw in London, so quite a difference there.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 8:43 pm Is it always about money?

The second bit depends on each player’s individual circumstances. If Ekpiteta doesn’t have any kids or own his home, it’s makes moving that much easier.
And even if players do have the hassle of moving their kids, their family, sellIng their home, plenty still do it. Why? Because they’re either getting more money or taking the chance to play at a higher level (often both).
Ekpiteta at least falls into the second of these categories, and probably the first too.

Re: Marvin Signs for Blackpool
You're right that it's not all about money. But in your example (which are over inflated figures) the difference in salary of £300 a week compounds over time to be worth £15k more a year. Then there is the superior signing bonus that could be offered by a team with bigger crowds/higher division and better bonuses. Plus living in a cheaper area than London this money goes a lot further.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 8:43 pm Is it always about money?

So add those all together, plus playing at a higher level and having the opportunity to showcase yourself there for your next contract and it all adds up to a far more lucrative opportunity.

No of course, definitely not. Although my examples were a better office (ground and facilities), cheaper area (it's Blackpool FFS! He can afford a 4 bed there and a 1 bed here), a bigger company (club size).ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 8:43 pm Is it always about money?

Plus a myriad of other things, least not being they are a division above us and were fairly recently in the Premier League.

Is Brill definitely still assistant manager? With Ottley departing it seems like he might be going back to goalkeeper coaching?RedO wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 8:45 pmI doubt the court case had anything to do with it.Thor wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 6:43 pm Biggesy the defence going backwards has to be placed at the feet of embleton. The poor fella has decided he wants to drive into Blackpool most days. If he has the same judgment when coming to head crosses it’s best he has moved on.

About 10 seconds after he signed for Blackpool, he had changed his twitter bio, and removed all traces of anything Orient....bit like that other scroat Jamie Jones did, when he left.

He was playing for East Thurrock a couple of years ago. I'm sure he can manage Blackpool.
