Please can we not play at Wembley again
Bit of a bogey? Large numbers there but we did not get behind the team. Soulless place with half of it empty (apart from our end and side)

Thought it was a bunch of ringers out there in the first half. Fylde should have gone in 3 up.

Re: Please can we not play at Wembley again
Thought the fans were more than willing to give it the big one, whenever we threatened. sadly we were unable to sustain the momentum. Remember it is a funny ole game. If one of those balls had gone in, instead of hitting the woodwork. Poetic justice. Their fans had made a long journey twice in a week. Also I was knackered getting back to Grays. What must it be like going home to Blackpool. Bloody daft time to have a match. Imagine if it had gone to penalty shoot-outs.

Re: Please can we not play at Wembley again
That's a good point. 4.15 kickoff fine for us but no consideration for the Fylde fans with a long trip back. Hope they either enjoy their overnight in London or stocked up on enough celebratory beer to last the long trip home.West Side Story wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2019 9:45 pm Thought the fans were more than willing to give it the big one, whenever we threatened. sadly we were unable to sustain the momentum. Been there three times now and seen us lose all three . Not really looking forward to ever going back there again to be honest.

Re: Please can we not play at Wembley again
I enjoyed the drink & natter in the Green Man garden beforehand (even if I was reduced to supping Carling cooking lager). But Wembley Stadium itself is a rubbish concrete bowl for a game like that when it’s 3 quarters empty and they try to concoct some sort of fake atmosphere with their crappy razzmatazz. Got my daily “steps” in getting up all those stairs to my seat in the Gods, mind: surprised I didn’t need oxygen up there.

Re: Please can we not play at Wembley again
Thing is the "prestige" of playing at Villa Park, Old Trafford or a random top flight Prem ground is not the same. And is the objective to reward the players with a game at Wembley or the fans?

Re: Please can we not play at Wembley again
Playing at Wembley is definitely a "be careful what you wish for" experience. I remember saying when it first got built how I wanted to see Orient play there but when it comes to it aside from the photo opportunities the atmosphere is flat and we seem to find a way to fall apart on the big occasion.
On the plus side the view was good even up in the sky at level 5 and the roof works well.

Re: Please can we not play at Wembley again
Best thing about today was I walked 10,000
Steps, about 7.6km.
Worse things:
1.Was explaining to all my non O's fans guests that the team usually play much better, never got going, and I'm sorry I wasted their day.
2. Trying to get on that bloody tube.

Re: Please can we not play at Wembley again
Who else has done the unholy hat-trick of Wembley defeats 1999, 2014, 2019?
Perhaps we should all make a pact to not go if we ever get there again, the club might stand a chance of winning if all the unlucky charm supporters stay away!

Re: Please can we not play at Wembley again
Got to say i enjoyed my day , i thought Fylde deserved thier glory , game should have been over at half time , my biggest minus from today was how poor we performed at times , it shows how difficult it might be in league 2 next season , onwards and upwards

Toss in Cardiff 2001 and that's quite a roll of dishonour

That means we've lost 4 finals on the trot.
Good moneywise for the club even if we lose.

Yep. Was at all four. Can’t say I was that fussed about yesterday though. Ultimately a meaningless competition. Good day out, but Wembley itself is largely a forgettable experience.

Re: Please can we not play at Wembley again
Didn't enjoy it at all, if that's what success brings you can poke it right where the sun don't shine.
Herded around like cattle, searched, huge queues to get food and drink and even denied water unless bought at an extortionate price.
Not my idea of fun at all, do people really undergo that sort of experience every week at premier grounds?

Re: Please can we not play at Wembley again
Yup, I’ve done all four finals. Like most I enjoyed the meet-ups beforehand but the game itself was completely forgettable. Fylde were rubbish yet if they’d had their shooting boots on they’d have been 3-0 up at h/t.
The only way we’ll ever play there again is in the playoffs, and frankly I can’t see myself going even if we do make it there. Just a soulless place, no atmosphere and just not enjoyable

Re: Please can we not play at Wembley again
Unlike many here I mostly enjoyed it. Got into Level 2 for midday, Watched Cray Valley game, Caught up with friends and family in gap between game in Three Lions bar were we were quickly served and had comfy seats and a couple of tables for 9 of us. Had a game of bar football with my nephews (Orient won that at least). All the stewards and staff were very friendly and helpful. Obviously would have been great to have won but Fylde played well and probably deserved the win on their first half performance, but Os did hit woodwork three times. Even getting the trains wasn't bad, though unlike England games, everyone stayed on all the way to Liverpool Street.
Anyway I hope Orient do return to Wembley. Have to win there eventually.

Not that it overly bothers me, but can see how WHU fans dislike playing at the Olympic stadium after Upton Park.
