It’s no surprise. A better run Orient with a proper manager and he would have stayed IMO. This isn’t the club for development anymore.

Re: Marvin Signs
Can't blame him. He's not that young any more and might not get another chance.
I really liked him as a player. He came from nothing and in the promotion season was outstanding in almost every game. Was slow out of the gates in League Two but grew into it. I think League One might be a little bit of a struggle for him if i'm completely honest but i hope he smashes it.
I think it's a real shame that we couldn't sign him. I just hope it wasn't purely money after the amount we must have spent on someone like Coulson extending his contract.

The club has been trying to keep him for over a year, Happe and Brophy signed extensions but Marvin never did and I always thought he'd move on at the end of the season.
Big step for him, but hope he does well. Can't help but think he would've developed better here, but we shall see.

Re: Marvin Signs
The real shame for me is that we couldn't get a fee for him, even in Jan. There were rumours of £300k plus bids last summer. Talks would probably have been happening then and you would assume they could have got a read on where he was at.
We did such a great job plucking him out of non-league, something i think we should do more of, and unlike teams like peterborough didnt seem to have the foresight to get a monetary return on our effort in developing him.

Re: Marvin Signs
We didn't get anywhere near £300k for either Macca or Koroma. There's no way anyone would have stumped up that sort of dosh for Marv.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:44 am The real shame for me is that we couldn't get a fee for him, even in Jan. I'm guessing the stints during the season when he was bombed out helped make up his mind.

Im very bitter......in my 54 years, supporting this club, ive seen one great player after another leave our club, usually for peanuts. this time we dont even get peanuts.Millennial Snowflake wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:42 amAt least you’re not bitterComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:38 am By putting 'Marvin Signs', you gave the impression he signed for us..clickbait eh?

How can we ever become a higher ranking club, if we let one good player after another leave
I get more depressed supporting this club with every passing day

But he started the first 13 games of the season and it was only Carl Fletcher who dropped him from the team.RedO wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:50 amThis.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:38 am It’s no surprise. Ross only dropped him once or twice when he was picking the team.

Re: Marvin Signs
We literally turned down a £200k bid from Rotherham last summer. If you ask me, we should have accepted it as it's crazy money for someone like him. But this was around the same time we'd just sold Bonne and Koroma, and there would have been an extra mega meltdown had we let all three of them go.
Can't agree that he'd have stayed if we were "better run" or had a "proper manager". IMO he isn't a League One player in a million years, so us in L2 vs Blackpool in L1 is a no-brainer. It's a great move for him

Re: Marvin Signs
Good Luck to him. He and his agent have clearly had this on the back burner for several months, genuinely hope he does well for them. No-one on this board or anywhere else should hold it against him because it's the way football is these days, we plucked him out of non league and gave his talents a platform now he has the chance on a higher stage. shame there is no fee but hopefully we will pick another young talent to replace him.
I always feel that defenders/goalkeepers are more easily replaced than midfielders/forwards I will be more upset if/when Ruel leaves.

Re: Marvin Signs
You've every right to be disappointed but that doesn't extend to your ridiculous sentiments towards a footballer that's decided to progress his career and I assume more money by moving to a bigger club.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:55 amIm very bitter......in my 54 years, supporting this club, ive seen one great player after another leave our club, usually for peanuts. this time we dont even get peanuts.Millennial Snowflake wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:42 amAt least you’re not bitterComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:38 am By putting 'Marvin Signs', you gave the impression he signed for us..clickbait eh?

Football as this level is a precarious career. It's littered with ex-players who struggle to make a living after retirement due to the limited coaching / management openings. Good luck to the lad for hopefully making hay whilst the sun is shining.

Just transfer out to another club that matches your ambitions, didn't you transfer to Salford when they was Non League with us as you wanted to make sure you got promoted back to the football league?ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:55 amIm very bitter......in my 54 years, supporting this club, ive seen one great player after another leave our club, usually for peanuts. this time we dont even get peanuts.Millennial Snowflake wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:42 amAt least you’re not bitterComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:38 am By putting 'Marvin Signs', you gave the impression he signed for us..clickbait eh?

He was not/is not guaranteed a starting place under Ross. He may as well sit in Blackpools reserves as ours.

If anyone had literally offered £200k for him, do you honestly think he would still be here? Re: Marvin Signs
Get where you are coming from but as much as we have lost another promising youngster, nothing we as fans can do about it, always been that way. unfortunately as a club it's our place in the food chain at the moment, but there will be other Marvins out there and the club needs to go out and find them, put them in the first team when they are ready and get them under meaningful contracts - Blackpool have given Marv a two year contract and they have an option on the third year - We could do more of that, If we had done that with Ruel we could get at least another year from him and sell him for a decent fee as we did with Bonne.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:55 amIm very bitter......in my 54 years, supporting this club, ive seen one great player after another leave our club, usually for peanuts. this time we dont even get peanuts.Millennial Snowflake wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:42 amAt least you’re not bitterComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:38 am By putting 'Marvin Signs', you gave the impression he signed for us..clickbait eh?

Agree completely. A real shame to lose him. Not gonna criticise the club, as sometimes you simply cannot stop a player leaving, but we need a replacement asap.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 10:38 am Can't blame him. He's not that young any more and might not get another chance.
