Re: Paul Mccallum
Sensible of him and us to be kicking the tyres, but no doubt he is talking to many other clubs too

Re: Paul Mccallum
Maybe we might be thinking about signing McCallum as a replacement for Simpson. Next season's strike force could be Bonne, Koroma , Harrold and McCallum.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2019 9:41 pmIt's almost like whatever you heard was gospel truth.

Re: Paul Mccallum
For sure signing Harrold doesn't rule out us signing McCallum. But really if we are able to sign McCallum I'd be disappointed if we resigned Harrold.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2019 9:45 pmMaybe we might be thinking about signing McCallum as a replacement for Simpson. Re: Paul Mccallum
But in your example his aerial threat would draw defenders to him and leave space for a runner at the far post to get onto the ball.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2019 9:46 pmNot if they go flying 5ft over his head.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2019 9:45 pmHis skillset could make our crosses look goodRedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2019 9:43 pm If he comes back to us we had better get practising putting in better crosses.

Re: Paul Mccallum
With going back to 7 subs, it would be good to have 2 forwards on the bench, so maybe we will need 5 forwards to have enough cover so one more needed if Alabi is here next season. I assume Simpson is not going to be here next season.

Re: Paul Mccallum
True. I'd prefer we used some of da yoof make up this 5th option though and we try to give them some minutes off the bench at some point.

Trouble is many of our crosses are ending up nearer the corner flag than the far postSmendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2019 9:48 pmBut in your example his aerial threat would draw defenders to him and leave space for a runner at the far post to get onto the ball.

Re: Paul Mccallum
Bonne, Koroma, Harold and Mccullum would be a decent strike force and allow us to mix it up giving all four game time and competition for starting slots. With 7 subs, a youth player can still get a chance at some point as injuries, fatigue and bans take effect.

Re: Paul Mccallum
This makes sense bearing in mind that Harold will only be fit for half a season.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2019 9:45 pmMaybe we might be thinking about signing McCallum as a replacement for Simpson. Re: Paul Mccallum
Re-signing Harrold worries me, as McCallum would be a much superior option - and the two of them seem too similar (stylistically) to provide an good mix of options and permutations from four strikers.

Our aim is to finish mid table in League 2, not to challenge Man City and Liverpool !

Re: Paul Mccallum
I don’t think they’re similar but yeah, that four doesn’t allow for a lot of combinations does it.
We’re going to need 4 strikers In each match day squad. Depending on how close the kids are to the first team, there’s a case for bringing in two more and having the five options.
