Yes should have been RUEL but I am talking about your often incorrect spelling of normal, everyday words that are in the English language. Christian names can often sound the same when spoken but can have many variations on the way they are spelt as in the name Christine which can be also spelt as Cristine, Kristine etc while still sounding the same when spoken.Same applies to Ruel which is also often spelt as Ruell.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 1:53 pm

Ling's going nowhere. The owners need someone to take care of the day running of the club as they don't want to and, understandably, feel that they don't know how to, not being football men. Sadly we're lumped with ML and his gopher RE.

Great idea. In the current climate spending a load of money paying off contracts we don't need to would be a brilliant move.

Two young talented players going to bring a couple of carthorses in, or even worse no players at all and relying on what we already have

This is a bit of a misleading stat. He scored 6 in 9 for Hampton & Richmond and 2 in 2 for Dover. Most his loan spells have been just 2-3 games at a club.Top of the JES wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 4:44 pmMy bad it's "Only" Six. Heybridge Swifts, Leatherhead, Bishops Stortford, Chelmsford City, Hampton & Richmons and Dover Athletic. The error I think was made last season only giving him a years contract. Surely the coaching staff could have seen enough in him to give him 2 or 3 years. Resigning Alabi and not giving Ruel a longer contract looked a bad idea at the time and I suspect getting farmed out again to Dover and having a manager in Hessanthaler who believed in him opened his eyes a bit.
Be very surprised if he stays. Marvin as said elsewhere is replaceable possibly a bit part player in a League One squad at best.
He has got an impressive record over a limited number of appearances but a good mini-run below the Conference doesn’t mean he was always ready for League 2 football.
I hope he stays though

Re: Expecting Bad News........
But we've just resigned a 39 year old - does that make him a cart horse as well?
We've also just resigned a talented young player in Shadrach Ogie, which you haven't bothered to comment on, maybe because that means it would mean maybe giving someone credit at the club for getting a good deal done over the line?
You just took the good news about them signing up for next season and spun it into something cynical for the sake of it?

The thing is, you say he's useless and base your opinion on that by the players the club signs - Fair Enough.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 11:37 am The problem is, if we are honest, Embleton & Ling are both f*cking useless, and we will never amount to much with those two here.
Players of quality wont sign for those two....they dont inspire anyone.
If Justin was still here, Ruel and big Marv would both have signed, i expect
But you wasn't complaining last summer when we won the league - Which half of the players were signed by Ling 18 months earlier, with no scouting system.
Nor was you complaining when Lawrence Vigouroux and Ouss Cisse were signed, played well, improved the team and our form did get better.
It just comes a cross as a bit of double standards for me, he's always allowed to be criticised to get it wrong, but not allowed contructive praise when he gets it right because it goes against your own agenda?

The same Ogie Embleton hung out to dry last season and didn't give a sniff of game time? Many say he's a decent prospect but haven't got much faith in our current manager getting the best out of him.The Big Shot wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 9:25 pmBut we've just resigned a 39 year old - does that make him a cart horse as well?

The key signings are the ones the club is very quiet about. Get Cissé in then there's something to get excited about...

Also is Jobi a carthorse still at 39? Genuinly would like to know other peoples opinions on this after he only played once all last season.

The fact that Ruel, Cisse and Marv haven’t been announced yet is much bigger news than the fact Jobi and this kid have renewed. It’s understandable people are concerned. The Big Shot wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 9:25 pmBut we've just resigned a 39 year old - does that make him a cart horse as well?

Also as well with the pandemic, finances are going to be strained for all clubs, literally anything could happen.
A few owners in League One and Two have said they expect more movement of players by the end of July after players receive their final salary and the situation is more clearer. We have to show patience for now.
As I've always said like yourself and most others, losing Sotiriou would be a small blow and I fully get the argument that he should've been given a chance ahead of Alabi sooner, but if we get a small fee for a player who's only played a handful of games in this pandemic situation then so be it. It happens at all clubs - sometimes talented youngsters aren't tied down to contracts for whatever reason, Man Utd lost one of their promising youngsters this week Angel Gomez after trying to tie him down all season.
The club have been trying to tie Marvin down to a new deal for well over a year and I've always had the impression he'd be off. He's 23 and IMO we should be able to bring in someone better/more proven at this level in his position should he choose to move on.
We've tied some of our better players down to new deals like Brophy and Happe in the last year as well, but it isn't always going to happen.

Er it's not misleading it's factual. He can only score goals at the level he is sent to play at!
Initially as a 17 year old making his first steps into senior football and ending up with a one in two record in a League two.

Re: Expecting Bad News........
Players like Ekpiteta and Sotiriou need to think long and hard about whether leaving a club that is well run and funded by caring owners, to go to an unknown quantity in either L1 or L2 will actually pay off. Who knows which club is going to have big financial problems next? Wigan seems like a one off but we really dont know what damage Covid testing / no fans is having or will have on other clubs. Remember Bury lads.The Big Shot wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 12:17 pmCisse isn't our player though to be fair.RedO wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 7:48 amThe fact that Ruel, Cisse and Marv haven’t been announced yet is much bigger news than the fact Jobi and this kid have renewed. If Marvin moves on as seems likely............... then Ogie can take his place as one of centre half options. This youngster is tall and strongly built, he has pace and can also play at left back.The Big Shot wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 12:17 pmCisse isn't our player though to be fair.RedO wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 7:48 amThe fact that Ruel, Cisse and Marv haven’t been announced yet is much bigger news than the fact Jobi and this kid have renewed. Two points against that Sid;
1. Embleton stated that he cant last 95 minutes as yet, both fitness-wise and with concentration - based on his Dover performances
2. If Happe stays, can we play two left footed centre halves together?

I agree it’s an excellent strike rate but the sample size and the level he was playing at doesn’t make it a strong argument for him to have played for us before he did
