O's MEMORIES THAT MAKE YOU SMILE
Mark Lazarus scoring against Sheffield United in our first game back in Division One and then doing a full lap of honour shaking hands with supporters.
Bill Roffey laying out 6'4" Wayne Entwistle getting sent off and being showered and changed before big Wayne woke up!
Ricky "Tricky" Heppolette twisting right then left then right again, defenders twisting with him but the ball was still in the same spot and had not moved.
Derrick Downing in a game at Millwall the Old Cold Blow Lane, going head first into the pitchside wall. The Millwall fans were cheering, laughing and calling him every expletive you could think of but our double DD just got straight back up, shook his head and ran straight back on the pitch.
ALL these four provide me with great memories they were all great characters and footballers would love that type of player to reappear once more at the O's.
These were first to spring to mind i will put me thinking cap on and hopefully come up with more.
Please put your's i'm fed up with a daily dose of depression on our forum that drags everyone down.

Re: O's MEMORIES THAT MAKE YOU SMILE
Great thread.
Like a great many anything that involved Alan Comfort brings back some
great memories, home to Lincoln in 84 we are deep into injury time when
Shaun Brooks sprays an inch perfect pass from the half way line out wide
where Alan runs on to it one touch and unleashes a shot into the bottom corner
1-0..
Kevin Hales if he was a sub or had been subbed would chase after the ball if
it had gone out of play on the east stand side and the O’s were chasing the
game a great proper pro ..
And totally agree with Bill Roffey incident can still remember him just walking
off and not even waiting for the refs card..

In 1971-72 Ian Bowyer scored a hat trick in his first game at Brisbane Road, a 4-1 win against Cardiff City.
If I recall correctly he scored with his first touch of the ball.

Correct and did he put the ball up his shirt at sometime during the game, a new thing at the time.
Could be my memory playing me tricks, good footballer Bowyer. Great shout i8ubutler.

Re: O's MEMORIES THAT MAKE YOU SMILE
Got a recollection of a Tommy Taylor free kick v Sunderland. It was way out, Bloomfield was screaming at Taylor not to go for goal, and he was still screaming at him not to shoot as the ball entered the net, was an absolute belter, think it was the winner in a 2-1.

Re: O's MEMORIES THAT MAKE YOU SMILE
There were loads of moments from Slade's time that made me smile. Any Odujabo goal brought a big smile to my face. I loved Lisbie and enjoyed it every time he scored. I can't remember how many he got but I remember being chuffed for Vincelot when he scored. It was just a very happy time. The club seemed so together and the blend of personalities was just magic.

Many of those above. Just reading about them makes me smile again.
Plus Terry ‘Henry’ Mancini holding the Div 3 trophy aloft about 4ft from where I was standing with my dad.

Re: O's MEMORIES THAT MAKE YOU SMILE
Going to Arsenal away in the cup with family and friends was really special, didn’t even get bothered about the result. It’s an especially fond memory because my dad was a gooner and I never thought I’d get to go to an Arsenal V Orient game with him (that wasn’t a friendly). He died a couple of years later, so it is a memory I will always cherish.

Re: O's MEMORIES THAT MAKE YOU SMILE
The O's games that I went to with my dad. We had some great times going to games home and away. He died the day before we lost 4-1 at home to Blackpool first game of the season and the first game the West stand was seated. I went to the game because it was where he would have wanted me to be, I tied his scarf to the seat and can't remember anything about the game itself. You don't realise how good those times were until they are taken away from you. Years later took my son to his first game and booked the same two seats in the East stand and sat in my dads seat, he would have smiled at that.

That Tehoue goal.
My first game as a season ticket holder was away at Salford 18/19. The scrambled last minute equaliser was quite nice too.

Re: O's MEMORIES THAT MAKE YOU SMILE
Several
The 3-1 win over Chelsea on Boxing Day 1975 - Laurie C gave Ron Harris a torrid afternoon
The 2-0 win over Tottenham in the League Cup
The win at West Ham on Boxing Day 1978
The win on penalties at Rotherham, which meant I would see us play at Wembley for the first time
The draw at Wolves in December 2013, the best atmosphere at a regular league game, I have been to, for about 40 years.

Re: O's MEMORIES THAT MAKE YOU SMILE
One thing that's quite clear, there's a lot of old people on here who have had no good memories of Orient for 40 odd years

Pretty sure that was 87, we won 2-1 with a very late Alan Comfort goal, they had time wasted time loads to get a point.Hedmans Header wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 8:00 pm Great thread.

If they had hung on it could have been the difference when they the first club to be relegated to the conference.
Finished level with Torquay on points at the bottom, such fine margins
Also Alan Comfort didn't play for the O's until 86, sorry, but it was a game I remember quite clearly

Re: O's MEMORIES THAT MAKE YOU SMILE
TotJES...i think i remember that game it was a lovely warm sunny day and remember us getting a drubbing, as you say 1-4.
When i hear Trevor Sinclair on Talksport radio i always think of that day because he was just starting out in his career with Blackpool.
Sorry about your dad and that time but i'm sure you have great memories of him
