It's interesting that most people feel politicians (who say they do the job do so to help people) aren't trusted by much of the population as people think they do it because of their ego or power pursuit, but people can't see that this might be a thing for some police officers?

I know 4 personally. 2, I believe, do it because they feel that is the way they can help people they are most interested in, 1 did it because his old man was and it was the only way to make him happy and 1 was one of our school bullies that realised he was pretty big and intimidating so could use this 'for good' too.

Don’t think anyone has disputed that some people may join the police on a power trip.

Thanks for giving an example that shows people join the police for all different reasons. That should wrap up this debate

I know one policeman well. He ended up in flying squad. Good bloke. He has evolved with the times. Was a bit of a racist at 20 and when he first started on the beat, now in our what’s up group you critique BLM he will back them up. Doesn’t like racist gags etc so always having a pop (at me). Interesting that after all these years (48) on the force he has mellowed so much. It’s a different world now.

"They were nothing to them and what's worse, they sent them on to members of the public," she said.

"If ever we needed an example of how toxic it has become, those police officers felt so safe, so untouchable, that they felt they could take photographs of dead black girls and send them on.

"It speaks volumes of the ethos that runs through the Metropolitan Police."

She says the police were "making assumptions" when they didn't immediately respond when the sisters were first reported missing.

"I knew instantly why they didn't care. They didn't care because they looked at my daughter's address and thought they knew who she was.

As was the case, now in court, of the young officer dragged by a car for a mile, who died of horrific injuries. A young man who went to work on behalf of us and never went home.

The Police, like all organisations, will have its share of racist arseholes. But to tar them all with the same brush is gross stupidity at a level I find difficult to put into words. Spoken by people who, when in difficulties, would be quick to call for help.

The two officers taking and sharing selfies should be sacked. Prosecuted if they have broken the law. But can we imagine the horror scenes some offices see as part of their job and I have little doubt most treat the victims with respect.

My Next door neighbours Daughter Just recently
Gave up her training to join the Met .
A couple of weeks before passing out ceremony.
Of the 50 that were in her start class 6
have stayed the course .

She felt some of her Friendships were to much to give up.
