My Old Fella joined the police in 1952 .
Not because he wanted to help People .
But because he watched Gary Cooper in High Noon &
Jimmy Cagney in White Heat .

He wanted to be the Hero , he loved the thought it was
him who was the one that outwitted the crims.

Police were a bit different back then , my Dad never joined the Police to help
He did.it to catch the bad guys .

On January 1st 1958 he wrote a letter of resignation because of an Incident
that showed him the Police were as Bad as the " Bad Guys " .

He changed his mind from resigning , & he became a
"Policemen in picking up a wage sense of a description "
from then on until he left in 1968 , for a few reasons.


Lots of Coppers will tell ya its to help others ,
but there covering the real reason .

Titles a bit mis-leading but the baldy is a classic example. you can see in his face he's on a power trip. Probably bored and want to make someones day worse. So many mental problems they take out on every day citizens.

I'll be honest. I'm actually surprised there's this many people who still respect the police and dont think they are mostly weirdos and wronguns but there you go.

It's interesting that most people feel politicians (who say they do the job do so to help people) aren't trusted by much of the population as people think they do it because of their ego or power pursuit, but people can't see that this might be a thing for some police officers?

I know 4 personally. 2, I believe, do it because they feel that is the way they can help people they are most interested in, 1 did it because his old man was and it was the only way to make him happy and 1 was one of our school bullies that realised he was pretty big and intimidating so could use this 'for good' too.

The police force changed for the worse since the day the beat bobby dissapeared .

Most of those guys had some semblance of a personality & knew
how to deal with the public they walked through & served.

The Military is a very different thing .

Soldiers do need to have a little madness in them ,
Ive discussed this with a couple of ex Marines who i went to school with

Madness is the ability to be shot at & not put your head down or scarper.

Bravery certainly to , like them or not you have to be
madly brave to then stand up & shoot back or charge.

I couldnt do either Job to be fair.
