Been to a few of their branches - 7/10

More of a NW London thing
Guessing they offer the classic Gregg's type stuff, or do they have anything interesting/different?

Bit more exotic than Gregg's, roasted vegetable flatbread instead of steak bakes. Lots of overlap though

Yes used to live in Grange Park road,Saturday was a walk up to the bakers for the bread then eat most of the middle on the way home as it was still nice and warm (get a clip round the ear)
Went to Church road school so walked past the shops for a few years ,happy days.
Afternoon marcho
I lived in Vicarage Rd, so next one along from you and went to Church Rd too.
My late ma lived in Grange Pk Rd when she was young before WW2, she went to Church Rd too
I'm in St Ives now, think a fair few of us migrated up the M11

I was at Church Mead (juniors) too. I think there was also a Mays Bakers on the corner of Capworth St and Manor Rd.

Interesting to read the history of Ingles on their website (https://inglesbakery.co.uk/our-history/). The current bakery is or was I believe on the old Wire Works site in Church Rd, the smell of freshly cooked bread often wafted across Leyton Marshes if you're there early.

Indeed there was faldO, I can remember having to walk there if a certain type of loaf had sold out.
When I was at school the stink from the wire works made the kids feel sick, like an electrical burning smell.
There was a bakery over at Harrow Green, Leytonstone, my dad did the odd shift there when he was between jobs
Think that one might have been the Mays one, not sure about it though.

I stopped going there when I was diagnosed coeliac - they didnt and never have tried to cater for the GF market. Thats obviously not the only reason but one of the reasons. They have failed to keep up with market trends - life has moved on from 40-50 years ago.

Shame for the staff involved but I'm going to buck the trend here and say most of their stuff was sh*t. Old-fashioned shops with insects flying about all over the cakes in the windows and cheese rolls so hard and crusty you could use them to break a jewellers window.

Not that Greggs is much better although the vegan sausage roll isn't bad.

Usual rubbish being spouted, don't you get bored playing the same old boring game you play?
