It is not just the ERG there are many others who will take the same view, some of them in the cabinet. It has ceased to be a 'One Nation party' whatever Boris has said. Is there anything that Prit Patel says or does look like 'one nation'?
Mikero
That's inconsequential to the topic at hand though, the fact is Patel voted to transfer workers rights from EU Law into UK law.
It looks like I'm not going to convince you your hunch is wrong though so will stop trying.
So, what we have now:
1) instruction to wash hands, wear masks, keep 2 metres distance, public transport running with much reduced capacity because of distancing requirement.
2) Millions of people thrown into hardship (furlough only benefitted a certain group of workers but mostly their employers). When the furlough money finishes many more people will be made redundant (12000 from British Airways alone).
3) All those public funds spent on furlough and mega deficit will now be used on extending austerity. Triple lock on pensions? It will be gone soon
4) the government's claim of "putting our arms around you" doesn't include many of the people who need it the most
5) Government's biggest push now is to get people out and spending money because ….. business and Tory sponsors want it but ….
6) they and the government aren't bothered about dead people (for them it's just a number).
7) Let's remember that Johnson, when finally calling together people to discuss the lung destroying epidemic he called it "operation last gasp"
What a laugh it all was/is in Johnson's world!
6) giving non essential business permission to open up gives people the message that 'life is back to normal'
7) attack pesky Labour for their reminder of 1) above
8) yet vulnerable people in care homes are still not allowed to have visitors and may have to die alone
9) lack of protective equipment for carers and NHS staff is still an issue
10) universal agreement that 'test & trace' is the way forward to beat this epidemic - but ….
11) a baroness and wife of Tory MP was given generous public funds to develop this app.
12) we were told that this will be a "world beating app" …...
13) now we are told that this app won't be fully operational for many more months (not much use when people are getting infected and dying now!!!)
14) Tories are accusing Labour of blocking children's return to school BUT still haven't come up with a viable plan for 1) above
Isn't our current rating on the official assessment scale still at 4 (from 5 being the most dangerous)?
How on earth could this possibly be deemed 'responsible government'?
But let us rejoice: Johnson will be able to fly around the world on a plane with red, white and blue décor. A snip at £900 million.

At least the argument for refitting the plane in 2015 was that it would save £700k per year from not needing to hire other planes.
The paint job is pointless tokenism. I hope Labour let him do it then use it as a stick to beat him with.
I hope they don't. That will be a VERY popular move by Johnson to do. Staring at, talking about and waving flags are seemingly cures for impotence in the UK.
Our Foreign Secretary thinks that 'taking a knee' somehow comes from Game of Thrones and is a sign of subjugation. The man is a complete plank, planed, sanded and polished.
